Thai subtitles .SRT files?

Featured Replies

Hello

How do I view Thai .SRT files?

I've installed the thai language and can type in Thai

but still cant see them

I get squares - unrecognised characters

from YIFY subtitles etc

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Am also interested so did a Google search that came up with this old thread - https://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/581587-downloaded-thai-subtitles-on-movies-appear-as-hieroglyphics/

A bit complicated reading but did find a sort of round about solution.

Go to - http://grinninggecko.com/labs/thai-subtitle-converter/ - and upload your gobldygook file to get it converted to Thai.

Thing is the program only accepts .ssa files so if like mine yours .srt it will need to be converted. I found that just by changing the filename from .srt to .ssa it was accepted and converted. Then just change the filename back to .srt.

Anyhow that's how it worked for me and now plays with VLC player and more importantly for me also on the Samsung smart TV.

If you don't see the file types .ssa /.srt  go to File/Folder options and uncheck  "Hide Extensions for Known File Types"

Anyone who wants to try the program here is hieroglyphics file:_

Gbledegook.srt

Then the result:-

Son of Bigfoot (thai).srt

?

If this is in connection with an Android TV Box, then look at the thread in Audio/Visual forum

which may be of help.

Cheers
