The Oka-san of all padded bills! Customers asked to pay for 120 green teas at Japanese restaurant

A customer at a Japanese restaurant at an Udon Thani department store went on Facebook to complain about a padded bill.

Several items of food were wrong but one thing really caught their eye.

They had been charged for 120 bottles of "Fujicha Tasty" green tea. They had ordered five.

The restaurant was not named by Sanook in defamation crazy Thailand but you may get an idea of the location from the name of the tea brand, notes Thaivisa.

The customer noted that the restaurant was not busy and said that the serving person was very capable - they had got everyone's order correct when they arrived at the table.

But when the bill was checked it was clearly wrong. It was presented by a staff member the party of diners had not seen before.

The manager said that the server had already left the building. They said the wrong number was entered for the tea though the diners felt that confusing 5 and 120 was hardly a simple slip.

They tried to contact the server to no avail and a lot of time was wasted.

The offending items were removed and the diners said they wanted the service charge taken off too as they had wasted time and got upset.

The manager said he couldn't adjust the bill due to the system but would give them that back separately.

The poster warned the public to always check their bills carefully.

if only the tea was the problem, I'm sure its a typo. But if more food items were added, perhaps they pissed of the server or were rude to him/her.

Who in their right mind would pay 300 baht fo a bottle of green tea?

Try 120 bottles at 30B. That was one of the things that upset the punters, they did not build a wall of empties.

Of course, you're right. No batteries in the calculator.

I would insist on a NEW CORRECT BILL, of not provided not pay. tell manager to call the Police. Amazing how quick they are to amend the bill.

So the restaurant corrected the mistake and guy still went to Facebook about it. What a dick.

When I work as a waiter while in university, I always checked the bill for accuracy before bringing it to the customer. Either poor training or lazy staff.... or BOTH!

An honest mistake I would say. Biggest mistake would be going there in the first place. Unagi Nagiri. 1 piece (1 mouthfull) of eel and rice rapped in seaweed for Bt270. Cheaper in Japan. Tasty though. Looking at the entire bill it's a very expensive joint. Bt100 for some mushrooms wraped in bacon (1 piece).

Gyoza 4 pieces Bt360.
