I would laugh if this was not so serious. have fun Thai people sharing your stuff with the Communists.

My definition of a communist is someone who has nothing and would love to share it with you.

I would expect the US to continue to pivot itself towards Vietnam. Vietnam is more reliable and long term US-Vietnamese interests have more in common. Trump could well apply those 25 percent tariffs on China to Thailand as well, especially as Thailand seems intent on being complicit in China's debt trap policy and land grabs in the South China Sea, Bhutan, and India. Not to mention complicit in aiding and abetting the repatriation of Uighurs into Chinese concentration camps.

I will second your statement. I am in VN factories as much as I can nowadays with my USA associates. No, USA would just cancel GSP duty program for Thailand and then they are done. Lost their competitive edge.

And that will be the fate of their new colonies as well. Not sure if it's a big difference for Thailand of today though. Some Hi-So's not Sino enough might get demoted.

Just like here. 99.99% of the population is told to shut up or get adjustment.

The article is about trade.  China is better about trade than Thailand.   When a conversation happens about Internet freedoms, you will be correct, though Thailand filters quite a bit too, but not as much so as China.

no, China whores its trade.

A traditional strength of Thailand, steering a middle course to maintain some semblance of independence between stronger powers. In all international matters not surprising. We will see if the current pressures force Thailand to take a side.

I think they just insulted the US and chose their direction.

Which is still better than over protective, xenophobic Thailand.

Boy the trade war is playing right into the had of the Chinese. Sounds like Thailand is going all in with the Chinese. Which was coming any way, but this just sped it up... damn

There is another thread running here on the crackdown on foreign owned land. This could be a by-product of the trade war. And the aligning with China. It wouldn't take much for the Chinese to whip up anti foreign policies in Thailand. Crackdown on retirement extensions, land ownership gone over with a fine tooth comb. This could get ugly fast.

Curious to see how this plays out?
