Summary of your likes and dislikes about Thailand

I went through all the answers in my previous thread and gathered your likes and dislikes, like a diver collecting pearls (of wisdom). 

 

Getting the most likes about Thailand are, in decreasing order:

1. Women

2. Weather

3. Easy going people

 

One esteemed member was brave (unconscious) enough to come out as a "hot Western woman", bringing forward arguments heard from many other Western women.

 

In short, Western men who like Thai women have a problem!

Either they are old, or ugly, or broke, or mentally ill...or all of these together!

But one thing is sure, Western women have nothing to do with it!

In other words, Western women are in a complete state of denial, and their latest creations, such as the ME2 movement are certainly not going to improve the situation.

Meanwhile, authentic women, from East Asia to Africa to Latin America, will likely get even more Western male visitors (prospectors) in the near future.

 

Getting the most dislikes about Thailand are, in decreasing order:

1. Drivers and road safety

2. Trash, pollution, noise

3. Corruption

 

It is not really surprising that Thailand has terrible drivers and road safety, considering that:

 

- there are no driving schools

 

Licensed schools with licensed instructors using specially fitted cars (double set of pedals...) and deciding when a prospective driver is ready to be released in the wild.

 

- the driving license exam is a (big) joke

 

Candidates sit for hours (4 to 6 hours!) watching videos...as if watching videos was going to make someone a judo black belt, or a piano virtuoso!

After this long brainwashing, the surviving candidates go to the driving theory exam where, watching through a magnifying glass, they try to decrypt small cartoon-like graphics, and find the wrong answer that has been selected as the right answer by the geniuses in charge.

Finally comes the driving test, set on a deserted parking lot!

There, the soon-to-be driver engages the first gear and, careful to never exceed a speed of 10 km/h, performs a succession of improbable maneuvers, leading to the much coveted licence to kill, sorry, to drive...

Not at my area nice and quite and only 10 mins away from shops and hospitals and all the other good stuff one like when one gets older. But you have to pay for it to get a quite safe environment

I dont think the cost of living is that low here these days. In fact many things cost a fortune here. And the weather has always been too hot and humid for my taste. That's easier to put up with than freezing temperatures, I agree.

 

Personally I find the people much too grasping also, but it's easy enough to stay away from them.

Western women are kind of to blame... You don't see many 20 to 29 year old western women sleeping with a guy 30 years older than they are and twice the size!

would like to add food, affordable interesting diet.

 

fresh fruit, fruit shakes, 10 baht fruit carts, cheap vege meals just about everywhere.

 

regarding western women in the usa, pretty much gave up on that one when i hit 40.

 

dating in the usa is a joke for middle aged men.

Can I borrow your screwdriver really means can I borrow your screwdriver and after I've finished with it I'll throw it on the ground and forget about it

 

Please buy me some gold, I want it for show means buy me some gold I want an alternative currency for any spur of the moment decision to buy something and you wont give me the money for it

 

take kids to the beach means go to the beach and you pay for huge meal for carloads of people (really not that upset about this one)

The weather here is more or less the same as where I'm from.   The women are on average definitely better where I came from.  

Rent can be cheaper here, or the same out of pocket cost, but for much more space.  Overall cost of living is similar though once you factor in all monthly costs.

Anyone who thinks the weather in Thailand is “decent”, has a few screws loose. Rain every day for 7 months isn’t what I call decent. Especially when coupled with high temperatures over 80 degrees F.

Cheap sex ok. Low cost of living you must be joking. If you eat thai crap yes low cost. I want my food not cheap. Also it was 74.9 baht to 1 pound now 41 baht to 1 pound make it even more expensive. Weather too bloody hot

Actually, I didn't suggest anything, but rather summed up Western women's opinions regarding Western men attracted by Thai women!

I live 5 minutes walking distance from Central Lat Phrao and the main road.
Still it is more quiet than at my occasional stay at my friends house in the Isaan village.

Well, in my opinion better than five months of darkness during winter in Europe.

I think you'd be finding it very difficult to find Western women half the size of Western men. From what I've seen in US and Australian shopping malls, it's the other way around.
