Big police and military presence at Full Moon Party - authorities say they are being successful

The authorities in Koh Phangan say they have been successful in recent years in ridding the monthly Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan of drugs and weapons.

Thai Rath quoted regional military representative Songphon Sumnaodee as saying that military and police action on the island is making it safer than ever for both Thai and foreign tourists coming to enjoy the party.

On Monday for September's party there were 98 officials mobilized from the army, police and civil defense volunteers to ensure security.

Weapons and drugs checkpoints were mounted but the Had Rin party went off without a hitch.

Pictures showed the scene at the party on Monday and the security details in operation.

Yup, just the beginning trend of party pooping Junta-style

Another business about to be killed. Not that I will miss it but many people depend on the income.

Translated:  The Junta just drove a stake though the heart of Koh Phangan backpacker tourism.

Are they now back to their kennel ?

Is KPG safe now ? Or do they plan to stay long time ?

Then what would be the point of going?

The creaking, bewhiskered geriatrics on TV seem to want the sex 'n drugs 'n rock'n'roll party to go on forever. RAGE TILL YA PUKE, young uns, just like we did in the sixties and seventies.

:partytime2:

Far too much fun going on there for the killjoy brigade to sleep at night.

The cops checking on the other cops dealing....big joke!!

Silly old codgers who frown on pretties dancing at events, claim wet damsels during songkran are asking to be raped, banning policewomen from being detectives, destroying a young nurses career for being 'too sexy' and other misogynist crap in between their poppa naps.

Surprised they let it go on for so long.

Yeah so hypocritical as cover ups about watches and immunity for family wrong doings are only appropriate for certain self imposed dignitaries. It will get worse before it becomes so unattractive and too sterile for tourists to bear here. Younger generations come for fun off the wall things like the full moon parties. Vietnam is way more fun st this point.
