Mains Water Cut Off

Featured Replies

Hi all,

We just came back from a holiday abroad and found out that the mains water has been cut off, according to our maid for quite a while now. I went to the Pattaya Waterworks office and they confirmed I have paid my last bill. They claim that I have to have a new water meter installed, and won't get water again before that is done.

Has anyone had this before? What on earth gives them the right to cut off the water without any notice, leaving us with no choice other than getting water delivered for the time being until this is sorted out? Note that this is not a case where water to an entire area is cut off - our neighbours still have supply.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. If the new meter thing is correct, what kind of money we're talking about?

A new meter costs around 600 baht. Perhaps your meter was stolen. Not an uncommon occurance around Pattaya.

The new "Home mart" near big C on Suk road have then for about 4-500 baht.

What on earth gives them the right to cut off the water without any notice, leaving us with no choice other than getting water delivered for the time being until this is sorted out?

I'm sure it's just policy.
