Checking Other People's Profiles

Featured Replies

I like this new(ish) feature in the profile window that tells you who's been checking your profile, it reveals a few surprises.

The first time I checked my own profile I noticed a few guys I'd recently discussed issues with on one or another thread had called by to check my profile. I do that too when I read a response that interests me, sort of 'Who's this guy?'

The next time I called by was to update my profile with a photo, a few weeks later to change my location to Singapore and then again to change it back to Rome again.

It was in these subsequent visits to my own profile that I noticed something rather odd, I might say 'creepy'.

There is one particular poster who seems to call by my profile on a regular basis, at least once a week, or so it would seem. Let's say, every time I've checked my profile the record of visitors reveals he's called by not more than a few days earlier.

I'm not saying its stalking, but it is a bit creepy.

I don't want to embarrass this poster and I'm only mentioning it here because, to be frank it does worry me a bit, and as they say "a worry shared is a worry halved", so I'll not mention his name.

However, I think it might be an idea if I send a coded message, just to let him know his behavior has been noticed and perhaps as a prompt for him to get some help.. So here goes (A coded message to my secret admirer).

Crikey Mate, I know you like coming the dag and I'm not one to dob on a bloke, but I'd hate to see you turning into more of a piker than you already are.

Just let be known you've been sprung mate, and while everyone's allowed to come a guster once an a while, don't go troppo on us mate.

I think you are reading into this a little too much.

I think the reason people look into anothers profile is to check up on what they have been posting recently.

In your case as an interesting 'raconteur' and normally sensible poster, I can understand why people would want to see what you have been saying.

Take it as a compliment.

The time to get worried is when the 'lurkers' visit your profile and start subtracting your stars!!!

its been flagged Guesthouse - I would like to tell you that ive visited your profile to see who it was (didnt read the whole post sorry) and i knew straight away who you were talking about.

anyway as a helpfull chap, I will be visiting your profile on a thrice weekly basis to check up.. :D

yours - undercover - :o

GH, :o the coding was not encrypted, was it? :D

Guesthouse, Ive checked your profile twice in the last half hour or so, and in between checks your rating has gone from nothing to one star. Obviously one of your recent visitors has done this, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was kayo, because he often does things like this. Just letting you know, mate :o

I've just done the same.

actually I was extremely disappointed because your stars didnt reduce at all, not even one. I hate when that happens. All the diabolical glee fizzles into nothing.

I went from 4 stars to 3 stars just after I got rid of Mid from The Last Word!!
