Last week it was revealed that six children have died in the southern provinces of Thailand since June this year. Sadly, children die all the time through misadventure and incurable disease.

But these six children died from Measles, one of the many diseases that have been brought under control in most communities over the past half century. Vaccination has also brought under control scores of other, in the past, deadly or disabling diseases. Here are just a few…

Measles

Rubella

Cholera

Meningococcal disease

Influenza

Diphtheria

Mumps

Tetanus

Hepatitis A

Pertussis

Tuberculosis

All religion is like a badly behaved dog. It should be kept in the home and not allowed out. It should certainly not be allowed in schools or public places.

Easy to guess the religion concerned before reading it!

And yet Saudi Arabia has managed to virtually eliminate measles in just 20 years. What do they know that that has not reached the ears of inhabitants of Yala?

It should be "put  down" how anyone "believes" anything without evidence defies rational thought.

I am religiously opposed to all religions, because they all harbor the very real potential of making their believers more stupid and ignorant than they usually already are.

They also make a LOT of noise, temples and mosques don't need to be SO LOUD! It keeps people out of their sleep and annoys them.

Pity they have not eliminated cutting up young girls genitals, beheading people, stoning them, public whipping and of course murdering journalists and flushing the remains down the sewer. I really don't think the Saudi's have anything to be proud of.

Off topic and irrelevant to measles, but none the less you do make some very valid points.

With one exception. FGM is illegal in KSA and not practised by Saudis themselves. It is only carried out illegally amongst the immigrant population from Africa and Pakistan.
