The symptoms are many..the most obvious one first :-

>>When I click on any element in Control Panel I get error c/windows/system32/rundll32.exe can't be found.

>>The browse button when I want attach files in a PM does not bring up a file destination

the attach file(s) button in email also just hangs.

>>Unable to download anything as I only get offered to option to save file and then nothing happens.

Cannot provide screenshot because of above.

I've been thrashing around for days now like a headless chicken...please help before I disappear up my own ######.

Thanks if u can help at all.

Tywais you are as usual the complete professional. :o

Rundll32.exe was restored from a zip file and after a re-boot the C Panel / attach file problem went away.

Replaced SpyBot and installed SpyWare Doctor instead, ran the scan and found over 200 infections....

Never count on only one antispyware program. Scan with at least two as some get stuff others miss.

Not problems Tony, it just didn't do the job. It may appear to but Spyware Doctor inspected twice as many files and has more options.

John, that link goes direct to a download of something (that I blocked). I don't know about others, but I'd rather it went to the information page so I can choose whether I want it or not. :o

I'm quite sure I trust anything recommended by Cdnvic, just want to see what it is first.

It's Advanced Windows Care. It's also in the downloads forum I think. :o

More of a multi-use utility than a protection.
