Thirteen Chinese men have been arrested in Chon Buri for allegedly working illegally by renting two houses to use as a call centre to call debtors in China to repay loans with interest.

Pol Maj Gen Surachate Hakpal, acting immigration police chief, said the arrests were made on Wednesday after a tip-off that a group of Chinese men rented two houses in Tambon Nong Plue of Bang Lamung district but they have never left the house.

Police found the men, aged from 18 to 40 years, working in the houses and seized 22 notebook computers and 28 mobile phones.

The 13 had 90-day visas to stay in the kingdom.

They confessed that they were hired by an illegal loan gang in China to call some 2,000 debtors in China to repay their loans with interest.

They face charges of working without a work permit and will be deported, Surachate added.

Was this a tip-off from neighbours concerned about their welfare, or a tip-off from the Chinese embassy once their intel had located them?

Unlucky ..

And Thailand is wondering how they can attract more Chinese to come there including offering free tourist visas.

Send them back on a boat as a reward and punishment ????

I think they've been here too long and turned to the dark 'ladyboy' side

Like the 21 year old Indian, maybe this Chinese loan shark gang will be out of pocket - great!

Why can't they work from inside China ? I don't get it , their customers are Chinese.

I'd assume the Chinese authorities can track them and stop them much easier, doing it from within China.
