JOHNNY Depp has been axed from the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise, according to DailyMail TV.

The 55-year-old, has played Jack Sparrow in the films for the past 15 years, but he will reportedly no longer be part of the films as Disney Studios plan a reboot.

Scriptwriter Stuart Beattie appeared to confirm the news DailyMail TV and revealed they will be reworking the entire franchise.

Speaking about his exit, Stuart said: "I think he's had a great run. Obviously, he's made that character his own and it's become the character he's most famous for now.

100%  they could have gone with a illigitamate son and killed him off.  Same like 2 and a half men that was a painful death when they replaced sheen.

Just won't be the same "Pirates" without the main pirate.

RIP Captain Jack.  You made that franchise what it is, now they're gonna Deep 6 you.

"you will remember this day as the day you "LOST" Captain Jack Sparrow" !!!

Nobody else can be a more credible captain jack Sparrow than Johnny Depp !!!!

We will see if the public will eat what the studios will serve them !?!?

And he's just missed the James Bond 007 franchise reboot as well.

I wonder which moron, or morons made that decision at Disney. I may suggest they are well qualified to work at Pattaya City Council to oversee the flooding and beach building works.

We'll look back on that decision as causing the obvious death of that franchise.

Dr. Emmet Brown ; Hope there is a Back to Wherever in his future.

Same team that decided the masses would lap up a movie franchise based on a Disney Park theme ride. If people will go to see that they'll watch any actor or movie.

It's interesting to see what entertains the masses considering that movies nowadays are completely devoid of any originality.  Just sequel, sequel, sequel, sequel -- reboot.
It's mind-numbing but the public laps it up.

Might work with Jack Sparrow – same same, but different – as "pirates" became a success long before his appearance...????

Pirates of the Caribbean is a dark ride attraction at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Park in Paris. The original version at Disneyland, which opened in 1967, was the last attraction whose construction was overseen by Walt Disney; he died three months before it opened. The ride, which tells the story of a band of pirates and their troubles and exploits, was replicated at the Magic Kingdom in 1973, at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, and at Disneyland Paris in 1992. Each of the initial four versions of the ride has a different façade but a similar ride experience. A reimagined version of the ride, Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure, opened at the Shanghai Disneyland Park in 2016.

The ride gave rise to the song "Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me)" written by George Bruns and Xavier Atencio. The song became the basis for the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, which debuted in 2003. Since 2006, Disney has incorporated characters from the film series into the Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris versions of the rides.
