‘Golden bell’ to keep Thai police officers awake in Region 1

Someone must have made a good business delivering those bells, most probably at inflated prices.

All Thais know this custom. It has been employed by watchmen for centuries here. I thought it had pretty much died out but never underestimate the conservatism and reactionary nature of the ruling classes here and their constant harking back to the golden age that never existed.

 

Who bought the bells by the way? If I were an auditor, I would take a look at that procurement.
