BANGKOK — The foreign minister said Wednesday it would be “inauspicious” to have foreign election observers for elections slated for February.

Yeah, makes it more difficult to rig the results.

Don Pramudwinai said Thailand has dignity and is not a problematic country so it doesn’t need foreign observers.

it does not matter because they will all be killed on the highways before they get to where they need to be. :shock1:

AFAIK, neither European countries nor USA have (accept?) foreign election observers during their own elections...

So who decide which countries must get observers? and on what criteria??

Not actually true. The UK and the USA regularly have foreign election observers. And I expect Thailand, in the end, will too.

But it's not the point. Indeed the whole thread misses the point because it's virtually impossible to fix an election in Thailand these days. The poison in the recipe is the military constitution which is designed to frustrate the wishes of the Thai people by crippling major political parties, filling the Senate with henchmen of the old order and projecting the Junta leader to an unelected premiership.

And Thailand is under a Juntas rule for the 19th time and this time they want to stay in under the guise of a 'freely' elected govt. Free and fair elections they don't want anyone else to see. Nothing to hide then what's the problem?????

The fact you even think to put this word out REEKS of suspicion!

As mentioned a time or two....they don't really know how to play the twisted psychological game terribly well.

They wear themselves on their sleeves.

Thailand SHOULDN'T need election observers-Fixed it for you

Trust the vote counters that took over the nation by coup de tat. What possibly could go wrong? Stellar record of democracy, peaceful transition of power, democratic rule of law.
