Phuket tour guides today protested at the Phuket Provincial City Hall over illegal tour guides they say are taking their jobs.

About 100 Phuket tour guides protested in front of the Phuket Provincial City Hall and handed a letter to Phuket’s Vice Governor Tanyawat Chanpinit pleading for fairness in the situation.

President of Andaman Tour Guide Association, Krit Thepbamrung,  who was leading the protesters, says, “We haven’t received fairness from government offices.”

“They need to review the new rules at the Phuket International Airport about controlling and checking legal tour guides when entering the inside zone and raising signs to take customers. Illegal tour guides can easily enter that zone.”

So I wonder what they don't? Too difficult?

Interesting to see the protesters signs, one said in English: "Barbarian Guide Get Out!" Oddly enough, I couldn't see any in Chinese.

You have to ask, why  there are so many "illegal guides"  are tourists using them

because they are  cheaper ?

or can speak the tourists language ?

or don't take them to rip off jewellery stores  while the grand palace is closed today !  ?????

Organised by the tour agent. And the trip will include a visit to a jewelry shop and duty free shopping, plus of course a latex factory.

Double post, website having issues again.

Wait til these pictures are posted all over Chinese social media and they look up the meaning of Barbarian. Seems the locals just keep digging that hole deeper and deeper. ????

Oh yes! My eyesight!

This is a job for Big Joke, but where is he.

BJ BJ !!

Crickets.

Well just maybe, if they could speak any other languages than Thai & bad pigeon English they might get more work....

He must be with Emmanuel I, King of France,
trying to rest.

Not really sure how this is supposed to win back Chinese tourists to Thailand. It will be tough for the TAT to put the "correct" spin on this when it hits the Chinese media.
