Vehicle Parking on Pedestrian Walkway

Recommended Posts

Almost everyday, motor vehicles are parked on the beach road pedestrian walkway. This particular vehicle was full of fuel containers for the motor boats.

Why do Pattaya Police allow motor vehicle parking on this popular pedestrian walkway? Is it a Police vehicle supplying fuel to the motor boats? There seems to be multiple places along the beach where boats are being loaded with fuel.

Go up to City Hall and complain like I did about the lowlife locals riding motorbikes on "walkway" and find out that no one cares. That walkway is a lost cause-ruined. Yet another thing in Pattaya to avoid. Why does City Hall allow that disaster zone at South end to exist? That photo looks walkway in front of Royal Garden, and by the way is not looking very popular these days.

Bangkok Administration have implemented a website, where people can upload photos and video of motor vehicles on public walkways, and the reporter gets part of the fine. Pattaya Police could copy the website, change a few words, to create their own website, and start obtaining revenue from the fines, without having to do the leg work. Reducing motor vehicles on pedestrian walkways would make Pattaya more tourist and pedestrian friendly.

Also, where is the Ministry of Energy and the Chief of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation division for Bang Lamung ? It would be nice if he decided that re-fueling and fuel storage could not occur on a tourist/swimming beach like Pattaya beach. Every morning hundreds of fuel containers are delivered and or stored on Pattaya Beach for the speed boats. Maybe he is waiting for someone to flick a lit cigarette at those fuel containers to make an unscheduled fireworks show?

I'd be a multi millionaire in no time taking photos of illegally parked vehicles or videos of poor drivers in Pattaya.

I believe that some police and City Hall employees have stakes in businesses on the beach. Personally, I don't think those vehicles cause major problems; irritating possibly, but no more. Many police officers have second jobs or legal business interests and they are the honest ones.

Before the walkway was ruined, about 2002 - 2009 Notice there is nothing irritating here.

Can anyone rotate this 900

City Hall recently pained a load of red lines on the street near my condo to stop people parking in a dangerous position. Their response of course was just to park on the pavement instead.

Try walking in that area at night. Most nights, motorcycle taxis, and sometimes food vendors, block half or more of the walkway and with the increased pedestrian traffic, people have to walk on the vehicle   roadway. The good thing at night is that vehicle traffic is very heavy, stop-and-go, so most accidents or collisions with pedestrians can be avoided.

Well if you complain about vehicles on the walkway only in Pattaya I could give you a list ( I don't) that's endless.

Live with it you're not at home and the Thais don't care if there's no financial compensation.

You could however fill a brown enveloppe with some cash for charity purposes a go to the police , maybe for one day they check it, with emphasis on maybe.

Actually best just to avoid the whole mess going on there. With every vehicle on that "walkway " there is an addional  20  thai males associated with it, and then about every 50m another load of them. Just took a songkow ride the length of beach rd.( I did see that truck on walkway at soi 12) Now  with the lowlife cigarette smokers and now sh*t loads of giant ashtrays along the walk - they can have it. Its not just the trucks on walkway - too many in Pattaya now more than ever along with the jerk drivers. The walkway is only good for one thing now at night. If ya all had been along that walkway before it was ruined you would understand the above diatribe.

I think if they didn’t refuel the boats they would run out.
