I will be buying air tickets in Thailand in advance for a visiting relative from Canada (traveling to Vietnam and Myanmar).

 

Apart from his name, is there any other information I need? Would it be less hassle to buy paper tickets from a travel agency rather than online (because the latter requires more information as I recall)?

 

Any thoughts gratefully received

As a rule, just the name is ok for legacy airlines. However for LCC's you may need passport number and issue/expiry dates.
