"Old School" Barber: Bangkok

Featured Replies

Can anybody recommend a good mens barber in Bangkok;  the kind that was once found in the barber shops of better hotels?  Please not a "stylist" or unisex salon.

I'm in my 70s and fortunate to still have a full head of hair but getting a decent haircut appropriate to my age is frustratingly difficult in Bangkok.

My attempts to convey my concept of a gentleman's haircut never make it intact through the wall of translation and the number 2 clippers come out, determined to give me hipster sidewalls and dangling forelocks.

Presently, I'm about a month past due for a cut but I've been putting it off, dreading the shearing that may result.

Suggestions appreciated.

Hi Dave,

Not knowing which part of Bangkok you reside in, it is hard to make a recommendation.
There are countless “Gentlemen’s Barbers [emoji610]” in Bangkok, literally hundreds.
If you are near the Silom area of town there is one street with 3 of the establishments.
The road is off Charoen Krung just before Robinsons in Bangrak:

Thank you but random Thai barber shops are not what I am seeking.  The language barrier is usually a problem and frankly, their hygienic practices often are not the best: non-sterilized combs, clipper heads, ect.

I seek a fairly central Bangkok barber who is familiar with western cuts and maintains acceptable hygienic standards.

Truefitt and Hill in Bangkok. You'll find them in Emporium. Old school and you are welcome to a whisky while getting a trim if you'd like.

I checked Truefit & Hill's website...pretty much exactly what I'm seeking.  Pricy but not outrageous.  less than one would spend in New York or the UK for similar services.

Manhattan Tong sounds good also.

I'll check both out.

Thanks, Gents.
