New Sky Train announcement

Featured Replies

It sounds like she's saying, "Please offer your seat to pregnant woo men wearing special tags." Is that right?

Is this on the new Siemens trains Samrong-Kheha?

BTS are (really, truly) receptive of constructive feedback on the service (or lack of same).

This is on all the Sukhumvit line trains.

At least it's better than the HK MTR's "Please set passengers alight before boarding".

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Hope this isn't too off topic but I've been hearing the same broken English announcements at the MRT station for 6 years now.

Iffy English on announcements and signage is the bane of my life.

For Flips Sake, the operators all have native speakers on staff, even if it's not their primary job they're available to sort the major errors.

Apart from apologising for the inconvenience of the train reaching its destination, I thought the MRT ones were all right.

I mean at the station not on the trains.. I think I could probably quote one example verbatim.

"Due to passenger overcrowd, please pay more attention for your belonging, thank you"

I mean it's not too bad and doesn't bother me particularly, but yeah, 6 years..

All of the announcements are fine and in proper understandable english except the one about not leaning against the stantions.

The new pregnant women announcement is terrible. It's at a volume much higher than the normal announcements, and it doesn't make sense.  What is a special tag?

Should we only give up our seats to pregnant women with the tag? What about other pregnant women?

Was there really an issue of people not giving up their seats to pregnant women before that we had to have this shouted in our ears every 3 minutes ? I don't think so.

They give a tag to preggers ladies if they want so you know to give up a seat. And yes it is an issue. They should have the announcements in Chinese

I heard it as "Please offer your seat to pregnant woman...very special text" as though she was reading it from a script and mistakenly also read out the scriptwriters side note.

That doesn't make sense either, I know.
