Chalong underpass

Camr through a few days ago and surprised at how little queue there was going from Rawai onto Chao Fa West.

Too busy watching crazy motorbikes but have they closed access to Chao Fa East Rd?

No they have closed the road for repair but a new route has been constructed which takes you past Home Pro as did the now being repaired road, hope that makes sense.

Thanks Badrabbit

actually the chaos was so bad in June when we were here I actually got to enjoy it and had been telling my passengers how bad it was and the wait we could have and all of a sudden I found myself

turning into HomePro.

A bit of an anticlimax but a very welcome one.

Must be great now for those living south of Chalong

Just back from Food for Foreigners. Thought I would chance the traffic for my monthly stock up. No back up at all from Rawai. That temp lane into Chaofa East makes a huge difference.

I was in the area yesterday afternoon and it was pretty bad. Back-ups everywhere from what I could see, including Patak Road, the cut through near Lorenzo's, and when I went back via Chaofa east and the road to Kata Hills, Wiset Road was at a standstill. Not sure why.

King's Cup celebrations. I was on Patak Road stuck, the whole of Kata was stuck. I was told Prayut was here. Not sure about that, but somebody brought all to a standstill.

I was stuck for about 30 minutes on Chao Fa East late this afternoon coming from town. Seems the delays have moved to there now with traffic from West and from Rawai direction pier and Chao Fa East.

That was due to the big cycle ride, nothing to do with the underpass!

Strange, since they stayed far away from the area where the delay was.

It was reported that roads would be closed from 2pm to 5pm, Wat Chalong was jammed with hundreds upon hundreds of cycles!

Yes, that was at Chao Fa West.

I am talking 2 km further, at Chalong circle, coming from Chao Fa East. All roads entering the circle were fine, except Chao Fa East. And I have seen that happen a few times before recently, due to traffic entering from West plus from Rawai and from Chalong pier. 3 Directions merging into 1 lane within 20 meters, plus traffic crossing that merging lane.

Okay but the bikes did come down Chao Fa east from Phuket town probably around the 2pm mark, all in all I think once the underpass is finished it's going to improve the area greatly.
