CCTV of him getting shot, cop was not in uniform

The cop has a gun so why is he turning around and running against him ?

He should be just running away from him, maybe the shots would not have been fired.

opponent armed makes no difference...if the cop is wrong u gotta stand ur ground ..death included...better die fighting than live on your knees

Death is a defeat, bending a knee/running is a strategic retreat. Look at MacArthur. Ridicilious

to stand your ground and die.

Why, when it was a cop. The disgusting Thai apologists on
this thread are the ones with egg on their face.
Nonsense could have been anybody getting drunk after work. A cop a tuk Tuk driver.. Whatever
Unless you are trying to say that all murders are committed by off duty cops?

Errm didn't think so!!

The egg is firmly on you

Don't think Thai ladies go for Chinese boyfriend.

They are not exactly well known for tipping, let alone funding a Thai girlfriend and her expensive tastes.

he was French/Algerian. Tragedy of course, but If he acted the same way Algerians act against French policemen in France (like in Marseille or Paris)..... He should have shown a little bit more respect for Thai policemen

He was close enough for a crash tackle, a hail Mary.. No guarantees but better than trying to dodge a bullet with side steps.

The shooter almost looked bored at the end

After 9 hours you didn't realise yet that the cop was in plain clothes.. How was he supposed to know that the guy was a policeman ?

The most worrying thing about this is that an armed person could not only enter the building but also shoot someone dead. It's supposed to be a secure place. It doesn't matter that the killer was a cop. Building security all ran away I guess.

you have not lived in Thailand for long... anyone can enter any building.

if carrying a police ID the guy could have carried a heavy machine gun inside with no problems.

the newspaper that can't be linked to reports that the cop and the victim knew each other for over a year, that the victim's girlfriend was talking to the cop, and that the cop was already fighting a court case because he already shot someone 6 years ago...  probably a triangular relationship turned sour.

Thai police at its finest.

Not sure if it was his GF giving him CPR on the fb video ( while 2 men look on) but well done for trying so hard whoever it was, Life in prison without parole is the only just result here, but we all know how justice works in Thailand.

He is a cop. More than likely the case will go away. Remember, this administration was installed to protect the powerful, those who are connected, those in office and the police.

It was never about the people.

My TGFs brother was a Thai boxer in Sakeo district and was very good, Two coppers half way home bailed him up after a fight and said "You win" . Yes . Well hand over your prize of 3000 baht. He reluctantly did It happened again a month later. The next time he told them no. I need to pay my trainers etc. One copper pulled a gun. He refused thinking he wouldn't pull the trigger. He did but was a misfire, The boxer grabbed the weapon and turned it on the cop and pulled the trigger and it fired and killed the cop. The other cop apparently shit his pants literally and got on his knees and was begging for forgiveness.  Boo was arrested and charged with murder but it was downgraded to manslaughter and he couldn't get off on self defence. He did 8 years.

Boo told the cops if he had of got one more extortion he was going to throw fights to get money that way. The local Police Chief was furious as he had mage good money on him so transferred the other cop to a shit post somewhere near the Cambodian border and stamped his file never to be promoted or transferred.

The correct procedure was not to charge Boo at all and fire the copper.

very unlikely, CCTV has been widely publicized already, the cop defends against another case where he shot a man 6 years ago, immediately got sacked by his chief and he's got no officer rank inspite being in his late 40ies.

Probably not an American. One learns to be polite and not let your mouth runoff when interacting with armed policeman.

Shame they don't appear to learn how to read, or watch videos. There was no indication of this person being a policeman, and they weren't in the process of performing their duties. It's a psycho in an orange t shirt chasing a man down after a late night altercation in a bar and murdering him.

Total nonsense from a cop apologist. Off duty or not he was still a cop. Wise up.

In today's Thairath they said the policeman had prior history and had been involved in shooting and killing a taxi driver in 2012. The policeman claimed self-defence and that he had been on duty at the time investigating the taxi driver for drugs offences and that the taxi driver had tried to knock him over with his taxi.
Thairath also reported that the policeman and Frenchman had known each other for over a year. On the day of the shooting the Frenchman's Thai gf had been complaining to the policeman about her unfaithful bf in the bar. The Frenchman had seen her talking to the policeman and the altercation between the two began then.
Seems like they're getting their excuses in already.

Seem to be varying stories. In today's Khaosod, apparently the policeman was flirting with the Frenchman's gf in the bar, which led to the altercation.

I doubt this will have any affect on the tourist numbers, several tourist have been killed by cops and it never affected the numbers coming before. The majority of tourist will never hear about this incident. It will not be headline news in america but it could be in France
