A robber armed with a knife went into an Udon Thani branch of Lotus Express and wai-ed the sales staff.

Dressed in black and white with a full face helmet he then asked if he could "borrow" 1,000 baht.

He was holding a knife in his right hand and made it look as though he had another weapon in his belt.

He said he'd bring the money right back.

Sales man Krissada Nawut, 21, handed him a 1,000 baht note.

He then wai-ed again in thanks and disappeared with an accomplice on a motorcycle.

Police rushed to the branch in Ban Thon, Muang district but the robbers had disappeared.

Both Krissada and fellow staffer Wiyuda Pongnin, 20, were in a state of shock despite the robber's police demeanor, reported 77Jowo.com.

The Thai media called it facetiously a new dimension in polite robbery.

Police investigations continue.

"Borrow" has a different meaning in Thai language...

They shall wait and see if he does bring the money back. Unless he fails to do that, there is nothing to accuse him of. Smarta**.
