Gay news anchor Don Lemon has a powerful message about homophobia for Kevin Hart

Piercing the filters of right wing people is not something I would even try to attempt. Nobody was hurt by Griffin's ill advised stunt except her own career. But homophobia is very damaging especially to gay kids in intolerant families. It even kills.

To be clear I am not accusing him of literally violently attacking gay children. But he made comments promoting it which as a public figure is quite bad.

Gay bashing (queer bashing in UK English slang) was acceptable in previous generations when homosexuality was illegal in the UK. Literally going out planning to beat the crap out someone just because of their sexuality.

During the 70's and 80's calling someone gay or the English slang "poof' was an insult, a wind up or a way to try and discredit and ridicule them.

I have many homosexual friends, male and female. I thought the world had moved on and now understood that homosexuality isn't something a person chooses like a religion, or hobby. It is what they are. And many are talented, kind, creative, caring human beings.

I'm not PC and would never claim to be but some subjects are really not suitable for attempted humor because of their previous history, especially when that history is recent. And in many countries homosexuals are still being persecuted for being different by the ignorant and intolerant.

Don Lemon is an incompetent hack.  Why does anyone care what he has to say?
I think he's quite competent and also a well intentioned professional journalist. Yes I realize dear leader doesn't like him. To dear leader the press is the enemy of the people. Stuff that dictators always say.

If you have to ask for an apology from someone, and they give it, then you pretty much know that it's not going to be sincere, no matter how sincere it sounds.

If you have to ask for an apology, it kinda defeats the whole reason for an apology.

When someone asks me for an apology, if I give one, I never really mean it, I do it to keep the peace and I suspect that holds for most of us.

As an interviewer, Don Lemon is pretty poor. He doesn't have much ability to control his guests in discussions, and is too obviously biased on certain issues. Which is fine as long as he doesn't then hide behind the "oh, I'm a journalist" dodge. He should be honest about his biases and leave it at that.  I felt the same about Jon Stewart. He actually was a good interviewer, but when things got heated he retreated behind "hey, I'm just a comedian" to deflect the conversation.

As for Kevin Hart's remarks, he isn't homophobic. I doubt that he fears gay people at all. He was telling jokes. Any joke will sound awful if you read it as though you were reading Mein Kampf.  If gay people want to be accepted into society (and they are) they need to be able to take the heat. Nobody gets special protection.

Sounds like you've been married for a while...

You don't even know the definition of homophobic so you're hardly an authority on whether anybody is homophobic or not. Anyway, the clearly homophobic content that Hart was putting out there in the past has stopped. I am not judging him except for kicking himself out of the hosting job. Nobody was actually trying to kick him out so now he's acting the victim and I call B.S.

Firstly, I notice you are always one of the first posters to post on any Gay topic, and you also make many posts on these threads.  So you seem to have some agenda going on.

His joke is clearly homophobic.  It's even worst as he is talking about CHILDREN... and his own child.

How about some gay comedian makes jokes about 'slapping down' his kid when the his son was near a black child?  You would think that was OK too?

Posters saying they don't want gay kids but are not homophobic... how ignorant.   If they do have children and they are gay maybe the child will kill his / herself because of this kind of thing, and the parents attitude to gays and lack of understanding and support.  You OK with that too I suppose?

Oh, you noticed I was the first posters on any Gay topic did you? Out of my 15,000+ posts, I 'll bet you'd have trouble finding 4 or 5 comments in the last few months in a Gay topic. Of course, I guess that depends on what you call a gay topic. I definitely spend too much time bemoaning what the left has done to civilization. If you think I have an agenda you are right. I am pro-reality and common sense.

I think Hart was trying to be edgy, what could be edgier these days than a joke about any of the sacred cows of the left. like the lgbt... crowd. People claim offense simply for the purpose of virtue signalling.

I just listened to the comedy routine the link posted above. It's comedy, anyone who takes offense has no sense of humor and has thinner skin than Donald Trump. Ridiculous.

Pay attention. Its not only the live comedy. It was the tweets. There is zero doubt Hart was broadcasting homophobic content in the past. He's hardly the worse example of a homophobe back then and I support freedom of speech in comedy. People are ignoring the real issue. He kicked himself out of the hosting job himself and now he plays the victim. He wants freedom of speech in comedy and that's good but he's not so keen on the freedom of the public to refer to his past homophobic content. He suggests it never be mentioned again. Not that easy.
