I want to buy more memory for my laptop. I remember someone posting the website address of Crucial Scan to check what memory I have but I cannot remember the online website in Thailand that I could order it from. Can anyone point me in the right direction please

I don't know which website you would have been looking at but Google Crucial or one of the other big name memory companies like Kingston, Corsair, Apacer etc. etc. Each one should have a tool to check your memory or you can simply enter the model # of your laptop. Another way to find out what is inside your computer is to download a free program such as Belarc Advisor or Config Inspector.

Crucial is a brand that might not be so easy to get in Thailand. Once you know the type of memory you need then if you are anywhere near a computer shop look for a brand like Kingston Value Ram, more than adequate for most users and sold just about everywhere.

www.thanni.com - good prices

Cheers guys

I already know what memory I have after using Crucial Scan, not really looking to buy their memory and I also have Belarc which I highly recommend to everyone

I shall check out the website and see what prices they are selling for

Thanks again

checked out both sites

Crucial Scan website reports as follows

Currently installed memory:512MB DDR PC2100

Second slot : EMPTY

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 with a maximum of 1GB per slot

So I checked Thanni and I am a little confused as to which memory I can purchase from this list of 1gb chips

Kingston ValueRAM 200 Pin 1GB DDR2-533 Notebook RAM Retail 2,880.00 บาท

Kingston ValueRAM 200 Pin 1GB DDR2-667 Notebook RAM Retail 2,950.00 บาท

Kingmax TinyBGA Series 200 Pin 1GB DDR2-533 Notebook RAM Retail 3,540.00 บาท

Kingston ValueRAM 200 Pin 1GB DDR333 Notebook RAM Retail 3,790.00 บาท

Kingston ValueRAM 200 Pin 1GB DDR400 Notebook RAM Retail 4,120.00 บาท

Which one is best or can I just buy the cheapest ??

Thanks

You need DDR, not DDR-2...so one of the bottom 2 on your list :o

They'll both run at PC-2100 anyway, since that's what your current RAM tops out at.

As Florin says, get what ever is cheapest from the following specs as it won't run faster than PC2100 anyway.

DDR266 = PC2100

DDR333 = PC2700

DDR400 = PC3200
