Transformation: Christian Bale has revealed his days of yo-yo dieting and extreme transformations for the sake of his art are over because his 'mortality is staring him in the face'

He put on 3st 4lbs in weight to play George Bush's Vice President Dick Cheney in his acclaimed new film Vice.

But Christian Bale has revealed his days of yo-yo dieting and extreme transformations for the sake of his art are over because his 'mortality is staring him in the face'.

The actor, 44, also said it wasn't fair on his wife, model Sibi Blazic, who has to put up with his extreme transformations over the years.

Christian told the Sunday Times' Culture magazine: 'I can't keep doing it. I really can't. My mortality is staring me in the face.'

Still enjoyed him as the child actor in Empire of the Sun.

Smart decision.

Moderation as you age.  He has a point.  Good for him.

The Grim Reaper is waiting for each of us. Comes early often to idiots, fools. I do not take each day for granted. God bless all!
