BANGKOK — A political party was treated to an internet flambe for its denunciation of the “immoral” marketing for a popular Netflix series about teen sex education.

Netizens brigaded the Ponlamuang Thai Party’s social media page after it announced Monday that members had complained to broadcasting regulators about giant billboards promoting “Sex Education.” The heretofore unknown party said the ads amounted to “illegal activity of a transnational corporation” that would “negatively affect the youth and create social problems.”

Actually, if you go to the official website for this series you will see a few trailers that show exactly what this series is all about. It is not about sex education...it is extremely suggestive and promotes masturbation, sex outside of marriage and sex among the youth. Just another example of the West exporting their promiscuity and sin to the rest of the world. I can't blame the Thais for being upset. They're already losing a generation of kids to the filthy behavior of the West thanks to the internet.

Plus teen pregnancy is a big problem here in the LOS.

Was it a "groan" of the pleasurable type :)??

No, there needs to be a bit of moaning too for that. Oooo and ahhhhh wouldn't be emiss either.

“It shows high school students doing drugs, engaging in promiscuity, wanting to have an abortion… "

As if this is not already happening even in the upper elementary schools.  It is the truth that hurts!

I'm actually sympathetic to those who would want to preserve (the best of) traditional Thai values.   But the finger-waggers and hand-wringers would do much better to be offended by media that promotes stupidity and selfishness, which would be about 75% of American programming and 95% of Thai programming at my rough estimate.

Gotta pick your battles wisely and gotta tend your own garden first, guys.

kids in Thailand seem to be teaching themselves just fine.

Exactly, but they need to blame something external, as honest and public introspection is anathema to Thais, unless perhaps they've lived abroad.

I don't think the Thai's need any 'suggestive' messages as we already have Bus Drivers, Taxi Driver's Et al masturbating in front of Passengers and being filmed doing so on board.   Sex outside of marriage is a daily normality in a country where 'Marriage' is deemed to be something you get at a Village party where money is handed over to the family of the 'Wife' (who is effectively 'bought') and thereafter the couple can screw their socks off for evermore, be it with their 'Marriage' partner or anyone else they fancy.   The Youth of the country have been screwing in the School Toilets before and after lessons for many decades and have set records for underage pregnation; as usual leaders of Asia in everything that is bad.    Strange then that you blame the 'Promiscuity and Sin' exported by The West !

Living here for the last twelve years and looking at the generations of young people spawned i would say that Parenting and Education standards here are what is responsible for 'losing' any generation either now or in the future.  The Thai's living in constant denial are their own worst enemy.

What utter nonsense. It does not 'promote' any of these things, it simply shows a very true and accurate reflection of today's youth. If you think this is going to promote promiscuity and sin in Thailand then i suggest you open your eyes and look at the huge problem of Teenage pregnancy and STD's that this country is experiencing. This is mainly due to the complete lack of education and guidance given to teenagers in Thailand in these matters. This program might actually help to reduce some of this by showing the use of contraceptives and dealing in a light hearted and adult manner with the issues.
