This is just another money maker for someone. The size of the water tanks on these toys is ludicrous for task. The amount of pollution created by the deployment and media frenzy around this absurdity will just outnumber any possible minuscule benefit a thousand fold.

molasses is used in sugarcane factories waste water treatment.

The pm2.5 is high because of sugar cane burning but spraying molasses into the air does what? Nothing! Why is everyone so dum? Oh, yeh... Pollution with anything over 30 pm2.5 causes brain damage. Cant tell a dum person that though..

How about just peeing from the roofs of buildings. Should work just as well.

They only know how to do it into the prevailing wind....it just seems to come back at them!

Maybe they learned from the ridiculous, and arrogant refusal of help when the masters of disasters helplessly tried to cope with floods.

Finally. Now we know why the junta bought those overpriced, probably unreliable submarines (besides the kick back opportunity).

I think the plan is very similar to the ultra rich who have built doomsday bunkers. When the air in Bangkok gets so bad that people are dropping like mozzies covered in molasses, the junta will board ship, Prawit will bark out "dive, dive, dive" and they'll be safe as the minions die in the streets.

Yes, life really is better in Thailand under army rule.

I must say, this thread, with all its excellent comments, was a fun read. Thanks Gov.

I was expecting a sky full of drones this morning, where are they?

Possibly banned by Airports of Thailand for security reasons at BKK and DMK????

Ok, i assumed they'd close the airspace during this mission, and have tourist planes circle somewhere for a few hours.

OMG this is so unbelievable, but then I realised they're actually serious.

This is their attempt at tackling the pollution problem.

And it's being broadcast on all TV stations like they're proud of what there doing!!

The rest of the world must p***ing themselves.

Now you're being silly. Use Thai logic - drop petrol on them.

Why not get everyone in Bangkok to line up (say at noon), all face west, turn on all fans, hair dryers  and everyone blow as hard as they can in a westerly direction and blow the smog away.

If the big bad wolf can blow down the house of the three little piggies, than all Bangkokians blowing at the same time will create a hurricane.

Why hasn't some smart government official come up with that idea?

... and after 3 days of burning clear sun days; no one will ever be able to unstick their car's wiper blades

but it might be good against mosquitoes! Image result for mosquito sticky trap

Molasses has been proven to work against nematodes in banana and tomatoes crops. Maybe they will be able to salvage some good out of it after all.

This has got to be seen .. 10 ltrs of water is 10 kilo's which is fairly hefty plus the weight of the drone .. So maybe one of tomorrow's headlines will be obese drones falling from the sky in Bangkok ..

A 10kg payload is nothing unusual these days, you can buy small crop srayer drones for $5000 that can carry 30 liters.

They need to get serious and ban diesel vehicle, require pollution control on all vehicle, ban tuk-tuk. Mandate e-bikes and electric cars.

Isn't this a comedy post. don't get all serious and suggest something that will work .

Its been used in agriculture to reduce dust for a long time, however over the past 10 years it has been trialled for use in urban envirnments. Costa Rica and Zimbabwe have both trialled it on roads with some success.  So, it does have potential to help, but not sure that 50 times 10l is going to make a noticable difference, it sounds very small.
