Plastic bags

I was out shopping this morning in Friendship (Pattaya). On arriving at the checkout a young man started to pack my bags as I paid my bill. When  I looked he had placed 5 kilo of shopping in two bags ( 1 inside the other) and the other 1 kilo of shopping in a much smaller bag. Apart from the fact that the two bags difference in weight would have made carrying them more awkward it also meant there we 3 plastic bags in all.

I wonder how many plastic bags are just wasted by uneven packaging.

It's probably not his fault , he was probably told when he started that some things go in one bag and some things in another. Total ignoring the fact that everything is wrapped anyway.

PS I repacked the bags so that I had 3 kilo in each and only used 2 bags.

We mostly shop in makro, no bags anyway. An esky for frozen/chilled and one of those big, lidded, plastic boxes in the back of the truck makes moving the stuff inside once we get home easy.

If it's not makro then we have several cloth bags which we take along, don't need any plastic bags. The confusion on the Tesco girlies faces is a picture even on "no bag" days.

This sounds like a wind-up, coz I'm sure the OP knows he's going to get bombarded with comments like, "Next time take your own bags".

Or am I presuming too much.

But anyway, take your own bags like I, Khun Sanctimonious, do.

What you have to think of is that not everybody has your ideals or cares. The guy is working a probably low paid job and trying to get by, do you really think he gives a stuff about anything other than getting past the week without having to deal with too many pompous, self indulgent and self righteous foreigners....

That is exactly right O/P. They trained here, just as they are in westernized countries to pack food items and none food items separately.

Have you never noticed?

And yes, take your own bags in future then you can pack it just as you like.
