Singularly unable to ever admit that they have made a mistake. Brakes, engine, steering problems, but never the person in control. And even more sad, is that the authorities will try to keep it quiet,

  • Oh my dear God, what's wrong here, every single day some shit happens with the Chinese,... if I was one of them I would go somewhere else 555

  • of course it was; it always is.

As a professionally handled vessel, the tanker should have been displaying a flag warning other vessels to stay clear 1) because it is carrying hazardous material but more especially 2) it was refuelling another vessel. The professional captain of the speed boat should have been nowhere near the tanker having seen and instantly recalled the meaning of the flag. Hard to see how the exhaustive training and checking process that is pusued in this country could have broken down to such an extent.

For those that mentioned a rudder, there is no rudder on this boat. It has outboard engines. They swivel back and forth and thus turning the boat.

"the speedboat suffered some sort of engine or control malfunction" - shouldn't that read "rudder malfunction?"

Even if the engine was stuck on full throttle, the boat could still steer out of the path of the tanker.

No rudder when outboard motors are used.
