PHUKET: In an attempt to stem the going tide of rubbish and large unwanted items being dumped by the side of the road, the Koh Kaew Tambon Administrative Organisation (OrBorTor) has launched a “free rubbish pickup” campaign.

"Want to throw it out? Then call us,” is the campaign’s slogan.

“If local residents of Koh Kaew want to throw away large items, please call the Koh Kaew OrBorTor at 076-239263,” explained Wararat Ramani of Koh Kaew OrBorTor’s Public Health Division.

Now if only other areas across the nation would do the same!

All OrBorTor's should be doing.

Yes good idea....but where does the rubbish eventually go...and why not tell the public the locations then they could dump it themselves.

Not everybody has a pickup truck or the manpower to haul large items around.

Let them come pick it up, for free, is by far the best way to handle this.

The wife and I went second hand shopping ,looking for some used columns and window frames ,the store was full of good used ,but the prices were so high ,we bought new....The second hand/recycle market is way over priced...

What about small items? Some roadsides are used as rubbish dumps for all sorts of garbage. Perhaps if community bins were placed at convenient sites and emptied on a regular basis it might help stop dumping.
