Hi, just wondering if anyone has had any experience travelling with their thai partner into a schengen area. I hold a Maltese passport but I reside in Australia, she lives In thailand.  Does she require a visa, or can she travel with me on my passport?  If a visa is required, is the application process as challenging as Australia? 

As the wife of an EU national she should still apply for a visa, though the process should be a fairly straightforward as she could apply under the EU Free Movement Directive, you must be travelling together or provide evidence that you're meeting up, the directive doesn't apply if she's travelling to Malta.

 

Your wife should apply in Thailand.
