While campaigning he said he had no business interests in Russia when he had Cohen actively seeking a real estate deal in Russia.  That is both a lie and a blatant conflict of interest, especially since he made it clear during his campaign that he wanted the US to be friends with Russia.

This project Cohen was pushing seems to fit that latter category as it never really got anywhere near becoming a reality. So Trump didn't lie. He had no current business interests in Russia and no prospective deals that were anywhere close to ever becoming an actual interest either. 

 

Selling New York condos to Russians is not "having a business interest in Russia" and in any event Trump has written about selling condos to Russians and Saudis in his own books so that can't be construed as a secret anyway. And it is utter nonsense to suggest that a politician can't run a business while campaigning for office. There have been loads of businessmen that have run for office before, and none of you ever made a big deal about it before. Indeed, Trump had active (not speculative) ongoing businesses in the UK at the time he ran for President and I don't see you complaining about that, which demonstrates the hypocrisy of this whole Russian Hoax nonsense.

Trump has been trying to do business with Russia for 30 years.  He was clearly interested in Russia, and pursuing interests in Russia, while claiming he had no business deals with Russia. 

 

Trump made it very clear that he wanted be "friends" with Russia.  He clearly objected to further sanctions on Russia, and is happy to let Russia keep the parts of Ukraine it has illegally seized.  He made it clear during the campaign and while in office that he wants to allow Russia to dominate its neighbors and he is happy to weaken the NATO alliance.  And he has publicly stated that he takes Putin's word on Russian election interference of over the assessments of his intelligence agencies.

 

In short, he is doing Putin's bidding as much as possible while he was trying, and still may be trying, to profit from his relationships with Russians.  If that's not a conflict of interest, what is?

No, he is doing America's bidding. America won the Cold War nearly 30 years ago. We spent an enormous amount of money doing it. Peace with Russia was supposed to be our reward, but a tiny cabal of people tried to steal that victory away from us. Trump ran a platform of peace and cooperation with Russia. Russia chose confrontation and domination over neighboring countries.  Until Trump came, the US response was to oppose this along with other democratic countries.
