Tuk Tuk parts online..?

Featured Replies

Hi all, first post and wasnt entirely sure where it should go, but here seemed most relevant.

I am based in Australia and have recently purchased a thai built tuk tuk. I am chasing a few parts to finish it off (most urgently a windshield), and am struggling to find any online sellers.

Does anyone have any idea where i could look, or how i might go about getting in touch with someone who could send one over? I am planning a couple of days in Bangkok later in the year so could potentially try to source one then and carry it back in my luggage, but would prefer to get one sooner.

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply, It is a restored old tuk tuk (circa 70's - 80's) so unfortunately i have no idea who the manufacturer was, and many hours searching are not returning many leads. It has a Daihatsu motor and was imported to Aus in 1991. The majority of the Thai models ive seen appear to keep the same shape front end, there must be parts everywhere but i have found very few online and unfortunately dont have any contacts.

I reckon Aus will have folk that can cut you a screen...UK does for vintage (etc) rides...

Hi transam, thanks for the idea, i spoke to them the other day and it is a possibility but fairly expensive, so its an option as a last resort.

They need to use whats left of mine to try to find a screen with similar curves, then cut it down to my size. Its reasonably time consuming/expensive and if the screen breaks i still have to pay, would get return flights for similar money (great excuse i think...) but a bit too busy at the moment.

Don't know how large the windshield is, but we used to make wooden bucks, place lexan over the buck, place in the oven.

For larger pieces, wooden buck, place plastic over it, use a heat gun. Go slow or it will craze. Worked well.

My first car project was lowering the roof 4" on a 60's Mini, I replaced all the glass with perspex, even the front screen. Put the curve in it with a little heat from mum's gas cooker...????

Many hours searching returned not much?  That came up first when I googled it yesterday for a couple of seconds, why don't you ask them, the chances are that they made the vehicle judging by the specs and their website is in English and has contact details.

Thanks very much Just Weird, ive googled as many terms as i could come up with and tried every site that looked like it had any potential but hadnt come across that one.

I just googled "thailand tuk tuk", "thailand tuktuk" and "thailandtuktuk" to see how i missed it, and it doesnt come up in the first 10 pages of results for any of those searches for me, not sure why. Maybe they get filtered differently from different locations.

Their site wouldnt load the first 2 times i clicked your link either, but now will every time.

Anyway thanks again for your time, much appreciated!

Thanks for the other ideas too canthai and transam. I hadnt thought about making a screen. If it comes to it i might have to give that a go for a while and hope the transport inspectors dont notice until i get a laminated screen. Shhhhhh...

"I just googled "thailand tuk tuk", "thailand tuktuk" and "thailandtuktuk"..."

I searched ''tuk tuk manufacturer Thailand''

Tuk Tuk, from this photo you can just see the wind shield, sorry no other pic's.

If you think this is an option, the Tuk Tuk was bought in Mukdahan Thailand, the guy still makes them.

Sorry but it is not allowed to post telephone numbers.

Send me a message, can provide you with a number, I still have my Tuk Tuk after 10 years.

Regards Tom
