Chonburi Immigration requirements

Featured Replies

In Pattaya news forum they have published what you require.

Retirement extension renewal needs 12 months transfers.

I will only have 10 - I thought they were told to be lenient this year.

Who published it had to be 12 months.

The head of immigration sent out a directive that were to be lenient this and accept less than 12 months.

Khun Pichai - the officer who does retirement extensions at Jomtien.

The statement is on the Pattaya News forum.

What is written in it is not definitive since he only talked about first time and renewing extensions. No mention of those done this year after the new rules went into effect in December.

Regarding retirement extensions, Khun Pichai said that first time applicants must be able to show at least two months of income coming from overseas or traceable to a taxable source in Thailand.

For renewal of retirement extensions, the applicant must be able to show 12 months income from abroad or from  a taxable source in Thailand. The applicant must also be able to show the income transferred into a Thai bank around the same time each month.

I think a clarification of it is needed.

True - also the same about the same time each month - I tx it when the exchange rate is favourable.

It's not about if you "really have the money/income" - we all know this, right?  The agents literally right next-door to Jomtien immigration, and the hawkers out front, will "fix" everything (with their partners on the inside) for a hefty-fee.  "Leniency" would only get in the way - like embassy-letters did.

How much is a hefty fee?

For a renewal around 14,000 baht...if you have used the same agent before....if not up to 20,000

my "legit" one will cost me 1,900 baht tomorrow with money already deposited in the bank method
