Sending luggage from CM to Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi,

I usually book VietJet from CM to BKK.

I need to pay extra for any check in luggage, which in my case is at least 25 kg.

I am thinking of sending the suitcase to bkk.

Do you have any suggestions for a reliable service and an indication of cost and speed?

Probably 400 or so with Thai post economy, but max payout is 1000 THB, if lost.  Bus is an option, too.

I sent my two large suitcases and carryon by train from Chiangmai to Bangkok last week for 350 baht.

Kerry express, max weight 25kg, max size (length + width + height) 200cm, next day delivery, about 420 baht.

But you have to put the suitcase in a box.

Where do you do it at the train station? How much insurance?

Kerry express picks up? Would a plastic wrap be sufficient? How much insurance?

At Chiang Mai, behind the first entrance to the train station, take the next turn left.  There is a small building where they shipp packages by train.    I didn’t insure my luggage

Great suggestions, but you can just mail to your local post office with TP.  Heard of a guy using the train to ship a motorbike, and was pleased (until he crashed a week later).

I don't know how much VietJet is C M to BKK, but can't be less than paying for a train ticket for yourself if deducting the cost of sending the bag.

The new carriages aren't too bad now, but not on all services.

Take the sleeper and save the cost of an hotel for a night as well.

That way you don't have to worry about bag going missing.

I can never sleep in a train or plane though.

Tried it many times and it always is a huge ordeal for me.
