Have you ever even been to Britain or Europe? Nudity is not on Social Media? Britan has  what they call the 9PM watershed which after 9PM when kids should have been sent to bed  basically anything goes on TV. Is TV Social Media.  I remember seeing episodes of Benny Hill with girls running around topless and they can show topless girls after (9PM) on TV  in Britain and other EU countries. On USA  TV you will usually not see  topless women on regular  TV programs but  will see on some cable channels or documentaries on Amazon tribes or African tribes, ect.

Thailand still pixilates, blurs, or blacks out cigarettes, alcohol, kissing, guns, knives, low-cut blouses, high-cut skirts - it's endless.  And absurd.  They actually do me a favor.  Between the adverts and censorship, I simply can not watch any channel tuned to a Thai TV station.  For all practical purposes, I'd stopped watching TV over a decade ago.  "Thank you Thailand!"

The disconnect between the government/elites and the general population is absolutely staggering. Let women have fun and if they want to get their jellies out, then so be it!

This particular measure is not about stopping them from getting their jellies out, but stopping them from getting their jellies out and then uploading it to the internet. A smart move in my view. Social media is a cancer, particularly for women.

" NO PHOTOS, video clips of live broadcasts of nudity, lewd acts or inviting consumption of alcohol should be published on Thai social media during Songkran, people are being warned. "

That's as clear as can be.  Post the sexy stuff on some other social media.  Just to be safe, post the location of that media here so we know how to avoid it.  I'd hate to accidentally stumble across sexy material again.

Or wait until after Songkran!

Can someone please tell me where these scantily clad women will be so I know where to go to avoid them?

Thanks in advance

Nudity is also banned on social media in Europe

Apparently not banned in Wikipedia if one were to search for 'List of social nudity places in Europe.'

As an example, click on "Germany."

Public nudity is not illegal in Germany but may be regulated by local authorities mostly because of safety and health issues but not morality. So no doubt public nudity in social media in Europe would not be banned.

But if you have a citation to the contrary, let's see it.

In Thailand authorities want to control morality.

There are a lot of old biffers in Germany that you definitely wouldn't want to see naked

It's only once a year, I think it's fine.

You can't post naked pics on FB/Insta anyway

Oh come on, just have blanket penalty of death for everything.

Good enough for aeroplane selfies, good enough for everything.

Unfortunately I have seen them at Nai Harn beach, changing from their swimwear to casual clothes and back again every time they go for a dip.

Are the foreign women paying any attention to this?  Expect more half naked drunk women getting themselves into trouble during this holiday. Would you do this in your own country. Stupid is as stupid does.

What a disgrace!!!

All Thai Gov't & RTP can do is issue warning about use of Social Media over Songkran period!!!

The fact that hundreds will die on the roads & more, either fatally or permanently injured, over Songkran is of NO IMPORTANCE to PM Prayut , Minister Prawit & rest of Thai Gov't + RTP Hierarchy ..... Bunch of selfish, self-serving B****rds!!

How does that mug on the left work - do you drink through the nipple?

You know, I think I could quite happily go through the rest of my life without ever learning the answer to that question.

For most, Songkran is a fun holiday and some women get wet, and look sexy. How on earth do you try to regulate that? The goons in charge are focusing their efforts in all the wrong areas. They seem to want to make Thailand into some kind of Quaker or Puritan state. It is total nonsense, and as fake as it gets. Misplaced priorities, and wasted efforts. They should be focusing their efforts on:

1. Traffic and public safety. Lift the nation up from the number one spot on planet earth, for road accidents. There are a dozen ways they could implement this, if they only cared. They could actually save lives!

2. Easing import tariffs. It would dramatically boost national revenue, by increasing luxury spending, among both Thais and tourists. As it stands now, tourists with deep pockets will not spend the extra 50% or more, while on vacation, for overpriced luxury goods. Same goes for fine wine. A tariff of 300% is punitive, and discourages a vibrant wine industry, and highly discourages five star tourism, wine events and festivals, and talent like top F & B people, sommeliers, and the like, from seeking work here.

3. Make visa policy simpler, not harder. Make it easier for ex-pats who contribute to the country in so many ways, to live here. Not harder, as the biggest joke has done. Make it easier for tourists, who want to spend money here. Reform the immigration department from the ground up.

4. More crackdowns on human trafficking, slavery, and illegal fishing. Forget about a few Africans selling fake goods on the street. In the grand scheme of things, it means nothing.

5. Focus some effort and money on the environment. Clean up the filthy air. Clean up the filthy rivers, and the filthy Gulf. Clean up the filthy beaches. Work on rural sanitation, and waste management. Do things that actually improve lives. Show that you are worthy of the power you have usurped from the people.

Prayuth and the army. Not making Thailand great again. And moving the nation backwards at an astonishing and alarming pace.

Noble aspirations, but just one problem....how does the achievement of any part of that coincide with the interests of those  who might be able to implement them?

Hope that’s cleared it up for you?

In Chiang Mai it´s 41 C this and next week. I can´t wait for the moment when they´ll arrest hundreds of tourists when they want to leave the country because they shared pics of topless men and girls in bikinis celebrating Songkran at Facebook, Instagram and so on.
