Mumford admitted to club bosses he told Franklin words to the effect of: "It's good to see you're not on holidays this year" in Saturday's finals derby, according to News Corp Australia. The AFL is unlikely to step into the situation, and the Giants will reportedly speak to the Swans before determining an internal punishment. Mumford is then expected to meet with the club again over the matter, which occured during the Giants' 36-point win over the Swans in the qualifying final. Mumford, who won a premiership with the Swans in 2013, was involved in a mid-match scuffle with Franklin on Saturday. Will27
Dennis always writes a pretty balanced article. Seems he's on the same page as BookMan regarding the Sydney youngsters. https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/afl/a/32591660/cometti-eagles-roos-fail-to-grab-a-slice-of-the-action/#page1 "And if any of Sydney's youngsters happened to be watching Smith's miscue, perhaps for the first time the penny would have dropped. The realisation that one kick can shape an entire final round can be a troublesome concept to sleep on. Papley, Aliir and Richards all tried hard but Heeney, Hewitt, Marsh, Naismith and Mills (injured early) all had days to forget. And you can forget the 'inexperience' of the Giants too, that's a misnomer. The thing most likely to get in the way of a GWS premiership is their own strut. They are audacious talents who have always been highly regarded ... and not only by others!"

BookMan
O'meara to Hawks....Where does it Leave Tommy Tradebait Mitchell? You cant tell me Hawthorn can fit both Tommy & O'Meara into their team for next year...not with who they already have... ++++++ GOLD Coast midfielder Jaeger O'Meara has requested a trade to Hawthorn. AFL.com.au can confirm O'Meara has informed the Suns the Hawks are his preferred destination after signalling his desire for a trade last month. O'Meara, the 2013 NAB AFL Rising Star, has not played a senior game for the past two seasons after rupturing his patella tendon in a 2015 NEAFL practice match. The 22-year-old is not a free agent so the Hawks will have to broker a trade that satisfies the Suns, who are likely to drive a hard bargain. Hawthorn recruiting and list manager Graham Wright said, "Jaeger has indicated he wants to be at Hawthorn in 2017 and we are keen to make this happen. "We fully respect that Jaeger is a Gold Coast player and we will work closely with the Suns in the lead up to the trade period to ensure we can get an appropriate deal done." Wright said Hawthorn would make no further comment. Gold Coast chairman Tony Cochrane said last month if the expansion club was not offered "an appropriate exchange" for O'Meara the midfielder had "the option to enter the draft". "It's the right time for the club to make a stance," Cochrane said. Gold Coast was believed to have offered O'Meara a two-year contract extension worth about $700,000 a season before he walked out on the club. He attracted keen interest from other Victorian clubs including Essendon, Carlton and St Kilda and could have attracted offers of similar value. Buddy had a go at Mummy on the field and that's where it stayed.. It was cheeky and I don't think the AFL needs to be involved. If the words used were a bit more colourful then it might need to be addressed. Also had a look at the vision of Stevie J's hit on Joey Kennedy, Stevie is bloody lucky that Joey came back on the field. That's saved his season. I still maintain Mummy should've gotten a week for his sling tackle on Cinderella, they deemed that his head didn't make contact with the ground, what vision were they looking at? Old Croc
I never played by the book, never even picked it up. My knowledge was gained from experience. I was never one to be sitting on the sidelines sipping Chardonnay and perusing the stats of the actual players. I did play against Goliath once in a social game. A fellow by the name of Wayne Harvey lined up against me in the ruck. Will might remember him. http://australianfootball.com/players/player/wayne%2Bharvey/15641
Ron19
Lucky you didn't play on this fella who was one of my idols over my infant years. ( My mother worked with him at Drabbles. ) I have vague memories of him kicking a massive goal from back behind centre, it was I think estimated at 90 yards. Key Facts Full name Kenneth Roy Eli Caporn Known as Ken Caporn Nickname Moose Born 12 September 1927 (age 89) Senior clubsClaremont - See more at: http://australianfootball.com/players/player/ken%2Bcaporn/15546#sthash.HfjiX2TY.dpuf Kenneth Caporn began his Claremont career in 1943, when the WANFL was operating as an under-age competition only. He went on to play a total of 273 games for the club before hanging up his boots at the end of the 1958 season. He also played a dozen interstate matches for Western Australia. Powerful, tenacious and extraordinarily fit, Caporn played as a ruckman for many years before developing into one of the finest post-war full backs in West Australian football, and arguably the best ever to take the field for the Monts, winning the club’s fairest and best trophy in 1951 and 1954. By the later years of his career he had developed his physique to Herculean proportions, and was rewarded by his team mates with the nickname ‘Moose' - with painful consequences for one of his team mates, diminutive rover Bruce Sinclair:Late in one match, Bruce was running back to take a mark on the guidance of one of his team mates' call of "Yours Bruce!" Unfortunately the call was really "Yours Moose!" The result of this small breakdown in communication was a somewhat large breakdown in Bruce's capacity to play for the rest of the game. When he came to some time later he expressed the opinion that Ken's nickname might be changed for the general health of his team mates.¹ Despite playing alongside such high quality footballers as Les McClements, Bill O’Neill and Gordon ‘Sonny’ Maffina for much of his career, Ken Caporn never experienced the satisfaction of playing in a premiership team, or indeed even went close to so doing. - See more at: http://australianfootball.com/players/player/ken%2Bcaporn/15546#sthash.HfjiX2TY.dpuf

AlexRRR
AFL Coaches Association voted for best player of the year 1st P Dangerfield followed by R Sloane, Dusty rusty Martin came in 3rd Doggie M Bontempelli 4th with L Parker and J Selwood tied for 5th. The players AFL MVP award winner by a landslide was P Dangerfield followed by R Sloane, 3rd was Dusty rusty Martin with Maxie "mountain man" Gawn tied with Eddie Betts for 4th..... Footnote...the Dee's best player awards was won by J Viney, a popular name down there, he was firing on all 8 cylinders until mid season after injury didn't get back to full swing until late in the season....i saw every Dee game and in my mind Maxi mountain man should have been the clear winner..... In Trade talks Saints ramping up interest in Bomber Laverde, 18 games since 2014 apparently a steel at pick 20 so they say.... Brett Deledio's future is clouded some say he's peed off, he wont be going anywhere at 29.....and 3 million buck contract that has 1 year to go.... Rodney "bad luck" Eade has his eyes on promising Pie Ruckman Jarrod Witts is known by him from his days when connected at Victoria Park... Roumer mill is working overtime .....Peter Sumich will return to the WCE, that Drew Petrie will be thrown a life line by the Eagles....is former playing mates of coach Simpson and mid field coach expected to take over as list manger ....Brady Rawlings...looks like Petrie will delay taking his pension after all.... The coming of the match between the Hawks and Dogs is shaping to be the match of the season in my mind...Hawks have the stars the Dogs have the power to stop, i think next season the Dogs will be ready to go all the way, this game should be a cracker.... Swans and Crows, I've fancied the Swans all year and last weeks result well shouldn't read anything into it, Crows can be stopped and the Swans hardly ever drop 2 in a row....Johnnie was a pussy North player full forward was there but never really standing out....he could become the Norm Smith of the 2000, as good old Norm was a handy full forward in his playing days....
