Photo: Patong Surf Life Saving PHUKET:-- The Patong Surf Life Saving group have today (May 7) made an announcement urging the public to exercise caution when visiting Patong Beach following a weather warning issued by the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) warning of heavy rain, strong winds and high waves from today until Friday (May 10). The weather warning covers southern provinces along the Andaman coast including Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang and Satun. Somprasong Sangchart, Head of Patong Surf Life Saving, told The Phuket News today, “The monsoon season has now begun and we want people to be aware of safe and unsafe areas to swim in the sea. OneEyedPie Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 I'd exercise extreme caution even swimming between the flags. Much safer in the local pool. Once the sea pulls you out or under then it's game over. I'm an extremely confident and experienced swimmer but the sea has no respect for such credence. 1

holy cow cm Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Years ago I ignored the red flags in that area . Took me 30 minutes to get 100 yards back in. I learned something that day.
