I hate admitting when I’m wrong but I misspoke in a previous topic that’s now closed about Tokyo

The person who said Prefectures in Japan are like States/Provinces was actually right and I was wrong.

When I lived in Tokyo for five years we just called all the Districts in Tokyo “Prefectures” but lol apparently we were wrong all a long. That was basically just a bad habit I guess when I lived there calling Districts like Shinjuku, Roppongi, Shibuya, and many others “Prefectures”. I misspoke and I apologize to the individual who corrected me in the other topic that’s now closed. I forgot his or her screen name but I’m sorry you were actually right about that and I was wrong. I never really thought about that in the 5 years that I lived in Tokyo so I’m sorry for snapping back at you if you are reading this. My mistake I misspoke you were right in Tokyo the Districts are Districts my bad. Japan is I believe made up of something like 47 Prefectures. So yeah I was incorrect. After 5 years living there I should have remembered that I’m sorry about arguing about it you were right I was wrong.

I’m referring to the topic about Hawaiian restaurants. My bad. I totally misspoke but I’m man enough to admit when I’m wrong. I hope that individual is reading this. If you are just let me know so I know that you saw me correct myself.

That previous topic about Hawaiian restaurants is now closed so I can’t apologize to the individual directly and I forgot his screen name. I hope him or her is reading this. Sorry

I can’t believe after 5 years living in Tokyo that I got that wrong. At first I was like “no I lived there 5 years and Prefectures are like Districts”. But I was wrong about that. I never really thought about that we just had a bad habit of referring to the Districts in Tokyo as “Prefectures” and we were wrong. I guess I just got into that habit of calling them Prefectures because a lot of people I worked with in Tokyo called them that and it just kind of stuck we were just saying it wrong. But hey that other person was actually right about what he told me and my reply was wrong. I really am sorry I misspoke.

From my previous topic about Hawaiian restaurants in Bangkok I was wrong Japan is made up of I believe 47 Prefectures. The Districts in Tokyo such as Shinjuku, Roppongi, Shibuya, and several others are just Districts not Prefectures. The other person in the Hawaiian restaurant topic that’s now closed was right Prefectures in Japan are the same as Provinces in Thailand I was wrong. I should have known that after living in Tokyo for 5 years but you know it was just kind of a bad habit that I picked up from other people who I worked with in Tokyo referring to the Districts in Tokyo as “Prefectures”, that was kind of just how we spoke and referred to them but that was incorrect and I was wrong and I apologize to the individual who corrected me in my Hawaiian restaurant topic which is now closed. I’m sorry I snapped back at you with the wrong answer that was just a bad habit I picked up in Japan after 5 years living there referring to Tokyo Districts as Prefectures, basically we were just saying it wrong and it kind of just stuck in my head. Anyway he or she was right and I was wrong I forgot the individual’s screen name. I wish I could remember that person’s screen name and apologize because my reply to him made me sound dumb and I want to correct myself and admit that yeah I was incorrect and he or she was right. I just misspoke and when I was living in Tokyo for 5 years we always used to make that same mistake all the time but I wasn’t the only one I picked up that bad habit from hearing other people refer to Tokyo Districts as Prefectures and that was just wrong. And I kind of just forgot as well it’s been a while since we lived in Tokyo, Japan. I was always traveling all over Asia constantly especially to Seoul, Korea so it’s hard to keep up with all the different terms sometimes in all the different Asian countries. Anyway my bad I hope that person reads this.

Okay guys I admitted that I misspoke there’s no reason to rub it in. At least I can admit it. After I thought about it I remembered “wait a second Japan is like 45 or 47 Prefectures or something like that”. The Districts are just Districts. My favorite Districts were Shinjuku, Roppongi, and Shibuya and some others that I forgot the names of. We just used to call them Prefectures it was just a bad habit is all and it just kind of stuck in my head. Hopefully at least the person who corrected me will see that I realized that I misspoke because I sounded dumb in my reply to him. He was actually right about the Prefectures being the same as Provinces here in Thailand. Sometimes when you live in a country for so long as I have you pick up bad habits. I’m sure I probably refer to some things and places in Thailand incorrectly as well as a lot of us foreigners do. I’ve been all over the world and it’s not easy remembering everything about every country I’ve been to and lived in.

I don't want to say too much but he's in tears and obviously doesn't want to talk about it at the moment.

Why did you interrupt?   The OP was on course to attain 100 posts in his own thread without any outside interaction and you've now spoiled the record-breaking attempt.

I hope you're proud of yourself, selfish brute.  [emoji16]

The other topic about Hawaiian restaurants in Bangkok is closed so I can’t reply to the person directly and say “my bad” and I don’t remember his screen name so I was just hoping that he’d see this. But that’s all I have to say about it. I misspoke no big deal but I don’t like being incorrect and if I am I want to correct it because I sounded ignorant in my reply to that person in the Hawaiian restaurant topic which is now closed. I don’t like sounding ignorant but we all make mistakes. I just had to admit that one because a few minutes later after I replied to the individual I realized “oh crap I just said something very wrong about Japan and I actually lived there for 5 years”. I don’t like sounding ignorant so I wanted to make a strong point that I corrected myself like writing a retraction kind of. When I lived in Tokyo lots of people I worked with used to say it wrong as well.
