For daily sinus flushing, use Himalayan Salt water with sterilized Neti Pot which is designed specifically for this function and watch the sinus issues go away , also supplement 1000mg of vitamin C twice daily (Preferably sodium ascorbate compound

Would have been wrong because I feel better today.

This does look like some sort of allergy. Never felt feverish without getting full blown sick.

I had been suffering from sinus problems for many months, on and off, and a lot of it depends upon the quality of the air.

I have had allergy tests at the hospital and seen the ENT specialists and apart from taking something like Cetrizine for the allergy, and twice daily sinus rinsing with saline solution, there's not much they can do for you.

They may consider that you have a low-grade sinus infection and put you on some antibiotics whilst undertaking the regimen above, and if you have suffered from some sort of "nasal drip" (down the back of your throat) for some time, they may well flush your sinuses out with their rinse and suction gadget, which seems to help.

Now I buy 1 L plastic containers of saline solution and use a squeezy bottle to flush the sinuses out, once or twice a day and so far everything has been okay.

Yes, that sounds like a good regime for you.  Personally, the sinus rinsing just left me with a lot of water trapped in my nose and I honestly felt the worse for it.  My problems eased when I left Bangkok, but I do miss the place.  The best decongestants are exercise, and showers imo.

Yes the sinus rinsing can have that effect and not good when the water drips out later on when talking to people!!!

Did read on a Mayo Clinic site that mixing a little mupirocin with the saline can help with a low grade sinus infection, this as well as mixing a little Xylitol with it instead. Apparently a type of "sugar" in the Xylitol prevents bacteria from adhering to the mucus membranes.

I've seen both of those recommended in the past...

The Mupirocin comes out as an ointment, AFAIR, and so it takes a bit to get it dissolved...

I'm actually giving the Xylitol add another try right now... I tried it once in the past without much noticeable effect.  Will see if this time is any better.  Plus, not easy to find bulk Xylitol in Thailand, though it is, or at least was, possible in the past.

The properties are the same ones that have dentists recommend its use as a factor in helping prevent the bacteria that leads to tooth decay... at least... that's the claim.

Yes the mupirocin is an ointment, however it is relatively easy to dissolve it if you shake the bottle/saline around vigourously before using it.

As for the xylitol, a place here in Phuket sells it in 100 g packets and the place is called, "Good Karma".

Apparently the type of "sugar" in xylitol is very similar to "d-mannose" which is found in cranberries and is similar to the type of "sugar" which helps prevent bacteria adhering to the bladder/urethra wall, thereby helping with UTIs, and the xylitol "sugar" supposedly has the same effect with the mucous lining in the nasal passages.

check your aircon filters- I have been chesty since a visit to patts 5 weeks ago. Normally I use limited aicon butup ther the air is crap so I have it on all the time.

As for ' Himilayas' salt salt is just salt, a diver friend of mine says just snort water to clear your sinuses- it huts like hell but works.
