Hello everyone, first time user.

I am in the process of sorting a UK visa for my young lady. I know I need to get documents translated but can anybody tell me if that would include wage slips and bank statements. They are obviously in Thai but also quite self explanatory I would have thought? Would translating the letter from her employer be enough along with the payslips and bank statements in Thai?

Cheers for any help!

Presumably this is for a tourist visa?

I've never translated bank or wage slips.  Was a long time ago but I recall writing the letter from her employer in English which she took to work and had her boss sign

Visit Visa? My Thai g/f has been to the UK twice, neither times did she translate any of her supporting documents that were printed in Thai (bank statements, land certificate).

The advice from the UKVI is that anything not in English, or Welsh (I've been sorely tempted) should be translated.

That said, as per the previous poster I've never translated pay slips, but my other half has asked the bank for statements in English which were supplied and submitted.

She's always been ok, as clearly have others, but you always run the risk of being refused if the instructions aren't complied with, I think that if the ECO is looking for a reason to refuse they could do so saying the applicant hasn't demonstrated their levels of income, but in most cases I imagine you'd get away with it.

Thanks for your help guys.

Yes it is for a tourist visa. I lived in Sweden for 10 years and took a girl there a couple of times and it was much more straight forward. The .gov website just says you may want to send certain supporting docs. A bit vague I reckon…. Same with an invite letter. It doesn't state you must have one but maybe it would be help? I  think ! will just get the letter from her employer translated. I remember from the Swedish application that the translation was not exactly great anyway.
