I am going to the UK for a holiday this year, and whilst there I intend getting a new passport as my existing one runs out at the end of this year. My existing extension of stay and my re entry stamp will then be in my cancelled passport. Can anyone tell me if I will have no problem with this or should I do something else. Thanking you.

Just present both passports on arrival back in Thailand and explain to the official, he will stamp you in in your new passport.

You should then go to immigration and ask if they need to transfer your existing stamps from old to new.

When you get your new passport, the authority would mostly punch holes or cut corners from your old passport. You can tell them to preserve the pages with the visas and stamps for Thailand.

Before I went to pickup my passport I clipped the inside pages together with a big paperclip and told them I want keep them intact.

They punched the cover, and the ID page and left the inside untouched.

At the border, they will transfer the visa to the new passport.

They did mine on leaving Thailand, with a big stamp and all the relevant information.

But on arrival it is the way as Crossy said.

No need to worry, as there is no problem at all when you get a new passport and the visa is still in the old.

Thanks Crossy and Donim.  Although I thought it would be alright, at the same time I was worried.  This has put my mind at rest.    Thanks again. regards.
