Airport Shrink Wrapping Machines ?

Featured Replies

Hello

I would like to confirm if the international departures area has the shrink wrapping machines for baggage,

and if yes, are they fully operational at this point in time?

What is the cost for using this facility per bag?

Thank you.

I haven't seen them Kevin, and I haven't seen any luggage wrapped either.

I have been in airports that have this service and the people that run it stop you before check in and pretty much tell you it is compulsory to have your bags wrapped, they were charging $5 a bag. If you didn't know any better you would just accept this as being the local laws.

Lets hope this doesn't get introduced in Thailand.

Yes, they are available, 2 out of three were being operated (actually not being operated, no customers seemed interested!). I can't tell you how much they cost though, sorry.

There were at least 2 machines operating in front of the international departures check in rows yesterday. The sign says 100 Baht for the service.

OK, so you use this service as additional security against sticky fingered baggage handlers. So what if security want to check your cases for bombs etc? Just a thought. :o

I must admit I always felt my check in luggage to be a little more secure when they used to put that strap around the bag. But with this service available on request would that not just highlight those bags that may just contain stuff worth pinching? :D

My flights to Boston from BKK have 1 or 2 stops (Tokyo, Chicago).

My bags are always thoroughly rifled through along the way, usually resulting in broken souvenirs, open boxes etc.

I doubt plastic wrap would last long on a bag with stops.

But maybe a good idea to protect yourself from sticky Thai fingers at the airport.

Thank leisurely, it's not for where they leave from,

It's for where they land!

South Africa :o

Soooo, whistling man, I must confess

The question posed, oh such a mess

Yet knowledge of the process, less?

Would logic tell, first seek, then dress?

IOW, how about they put the machine AFTER the search station?

The strap, I have not seen before

And therefore cannot speak

But not to hold you up, with snore

my bags be safe, yes, EEK!?

IOW, use strap, or wrapping?

The time you took to type, no end

Has moved my thought to ask

What value did you add here, friend?

Besides, me take to task?

IOW, you didn't help me much :D

cheers Phil

Good fortune on my way, will pass

For stops there are but one

My luggage, strapped, beneath my a**

into the setting sun.

Of fingers which you speak, my friend

At airport when in Thai,

Will wrap not be means, to the end

Home safely, luggage, fly?
