we had to go to Thai Watsadu to grab a couple of things, havent been there for ages. Walked in the doors and it was like walking into an oven, no air conditioning at all, only one checkout working and you had to go to find staff. We grabbed a few things from the main area but there was another item we wanted and we were told we had to go to the back area to get it, we had to walk through the office area to get to it, the office area was air conditioned with only 2 staff in there, walked through and grabbed the other item we wanted and went back into the office to pay. Saw the drink fridge so went and grabbed a couple of bottles of drink and they were warm, fridge was turned up and not cold at all, must be desperate to save money on electricity, walked outside and there was a little shop with a  drink fridge and very cold drinks. Realize they must be suffering since Global World opened but we wont be back, walking around in that heat was crazy, even the staff were dripping sweat, lost us as customers.

Thaiwatsadu has always been a non attractive shop with 5 times more employees than customers.

The only reason they still exist is because they are owned by the Central group.

Thaiwatsadu in Pattaya has always been fairly light on air-con and fairly heavy on big fans. But they are also often a bit cheaper than other stores (though not always). I generally buy my DIY things there.

Air conditioning costs a fortune (how much I wonder) for these big stores, and is a major motivating factor for potential employees. There are a few places that actually insulate their roofs and walls when building, but that would be expecting too much from a place that sells insulation and air conditioning units.

Thaiwatsadu in Buriram is cool and now that I know where everything is I can ignore the embarrassed offers of assistance coming from people that know nothing about their products and can't speak English. My fault for not speaking Thai well enough, I know.

Where I live Thai watsadu never had an aircon on Homepro sure but not Thai watsadu. Its cheaper and has lower quality items. i don't like it too much but its close by.

Thai Watsadu is my goto place for DIY stuff, best prices usually and a good selection. Global House is better for wood, doors, and windows though.

I don't care about the heat, it's Thailand. But they do usually have big fans and swamp coolers running, so it is not just a steel building in the sun. You want aircon, go to Central for a while or stay in your car.

You only have to come back to Pattaya from BKK to see how things are developing. Those giant hoardings, plastered with advertisements, now virtually everyone empty, only entry to Pattaya itself have a few posted.   Giant warehouses standing empty, and still being built aplenty

There’s a small HomePro in a Big C complex near me and it has to own the record for most employees !!
I go in the back door ( in my dreams too [emoji51]) to avoid the multitude of employees gathered around the main entrance.
You really have to run the gauntlet !!, it’s like going to the Beach Club in KL early doors, without the benefits of course [emoji849]

Buy your things in December

We have a new Global House in our area.

Huge but no aircondition.

On my last visit it was "bearable" (very high roof) but not inviting for strolling around.

Find your things and go.

Thai Watsadu and DoHome in Khon Kaen also both without AC.

(as far as I remember Thai Watsadu also had this wall of huge fans)

Sure HomePro is fancy, but their assortment can not match the big ones.

They serve a different customer base and can afford higher price tags.

For a deep-well pump I don't look at HomePro.

For PVC stuff (water installation) I don't look at HomePro.

For a fancy desk light I DO look at HomePro.

Bought my deep-well pump at DoHome.

Try Homehub, just a bit further down Mittrapharp.

I hate Homepro.  Staff getting in your way and then following you around and when you get to the checkouts there's a queue with only one open.

Well that tells a lot about the thai spending and the housing market. Get ready for some storm...

Watch it the posters in denial about the housing market will soon be jumping on you

Plus you ask the staff what colours are available in the product you like. Standard answer is see deow (this colour only). You look around the shelves under the product and discover there are 3 or 4 colours available.

Pure laziness.
