Lost Passport

I've mislaid my passport (UK). The last time I had it was at Immigration after picking it up after my Visa Extension (Retirement) 2 weeks ago.

I dont normally carry it. I have a Thai Driving License. But tomorrow I planned to go to the bank to withdraw some cash. Once a month after receiving money from the UK to keep my bank book up to date and check that its marked FTT. I've looked in all the normal places and am now staring to move all the furniture. I hope to find it.

What do I do if I cant? I know I'll have to go to the RTP to report it. Its the next step, The embassy and immigration I need to know about. My 90 day report is due it 10 days.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

It might seem obvious, but have you called the immigration office? If you dropped it near there then that would be the obvious place for someone to take it. You can still withdraw cash without it, and if you can do your 90 day report online, then all you'd need to do is inform the embassy that it is lost and apply for a new one (but not cheap, and they take ages). Do you not have an ATM card for your Thai bank?

I would assume that the normal procedure for a Thai office given a foreign passport that has been found would be to send it to the embassy or at least inform them, but this being Thailand, it probably just gets chucked in a drawer somewhere and forgotten about.

Yeah I look after my UK passport like it was a block of gold.

I keep a photocopy of my passport at home, in my wallet and on my phone.

My Thai address is in the back page of passport in English & Thai.

As said go back to imm office and trace your steps.

If you can't find it as you say get police report of loss.

Go immigration with a photocopy of police report.

Then contact Embassy on phone, maybe you can apply on-line for a new passport.

I am renewing my passport with these people maybe they can help.

Hope can sort it Goodluck.

Well I've given up. I've canceled my passport and am in the process of applying for a new one. I have also reported it to the RTP. I had a word with Darren at Key Visa (very helpful) and he said just take the new passport (when it comes) with the police report to Immigration and they will sort it for you. To make me feel better he said it happens all the time.

When I lost my passport I reported it to RTP and was given a receipt and told to take it with my replacement passport to immigration. I picked up the new passport in BKK and went to Chang Wattana(??) hoping to have my almost new Type O visa transferred (yeah, sure!) Instead I was informed I was on overstay and asked if I had an air ticket to leave the country immediately, otherwise I would be arrested and deported, even after showing them the RTP receipt.

I had a rail ticket to Surat Thani and promised to extend that to Padang Besar, pay the overstay, and leave. After much discussion this was deemed acceptable even though it didn't conform with the law.

This was about 15 years ago, but I am still stopped occasionally by IO and asked about the lost passport. Go to Immigration immediately and inform them of the loss.
