New 40gig Usb Hard Disk

Featured Replies

I bought a USB hard disk drive at Tukcom, but I cannot get ti to work, It appears in my drives list but does not have a letter associated with it. However it does not appear in "my computer".

In the drives list if I click on it and troubleshoot it comes back and tells me that it has 38.something capacity but none of it is assigned, it has not been initiated.

To cut a long story short, I plug it in and it is recognised XP installs it but it does not appears anywhere that I can use it.

ANyone have any ideas?

in the absence of other posts Reith and dont shoot me down, but mabe in set-up you do an auto find for the disc, thats how it used to work in earlier versions.

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management

You should see a List of drives in your computer . look for the one without a letter .. right click it and choose format .. follow the instructions .. and you should be able to use the disk within minutes.
