Change the owner of the car under a loan

Featured Replies

I'd like to get some help from you, we have a car and it is under my girlfriend name and it still has 2 years loan left.

She will give the car for me but how is it possible if it has 2 years loan left?

I heard something that has to pay a lot of money like 2 months for the change. Do you have any idea is it true or is it fake?

When you say "give" do you mean you pay off the loan and she transfers the car to you?

There may well be a "early repayment" charge, you'll need to contact the finance company to discover just how much they are going to sting you for.

Yes, I'll pay the rest of the loan but I want the car under my name. The reason easy, she doesn't have money to pay, the loan is close to a monthly car rental so for me is better to pay this rather than car rent.

If it was a new car the book is usually held by the finance company until the loan is paid off, as said you to go with her to them, I doubt if they will put the loan in your name, you will have to make a legal agreement with her if you want to carry on with payments.

The other alternative is to pay off all the loan and go about putting your name in the blue book at your local DLT office.
