PATTAYA:--Residents of Nongprue’s Eakmongkol 4/1 Village cleaned up their neighborhood with an eye toward creating a public park within its boundaries.

Mayor Mai Chaiyanit and subdistrict officials joined neighbors in the July 18 cleanup organized to emphasize cleanliness and environmental conservation.

Participants collected garbage, cut grass and planted trees in an area that could one day be made into park.

Thailand needs more of this....Kudos

What a good example. The problem is they are just creating a pleasant area for the all of the stray dogs to crap in.

Today's stray dogs need pleasant areas to crap on.

This is great, but the leadership might want to purchase more garbage bins for this area. You drive all around Nongprue and you will barely find a bin.

It's already a park, a car park.

I thought cleaning up litter and illegal dumps was an occupation reserved for farangs?

It looks like it has the making of a themed electrocution park with all those hanging wires of Babylon????

I can not help but notice, all of the men seem to be standing around in their yellow shirts, whilst women look to be doing all of the work!!

If ever this project achieves completion I wonder who will be in the ensuing photo shoot and take all of the credit?

Have you never noticed all the Women seem to work all day doing something or other (Laundry,Mini Mart Etc ) and the men just hang out smoking and drinking.with the occasional spurt up the street on a Motocy or in a Pickup to announce they are still the King.

Their ideal job seems to be that of a WIN, namely sitting around smoking and glowering at the odd tourist while getting in their way and the occasional opportunity to behave like a thug!
