Typical Thai mentality!

Thailand is about money. Life is cheap!!!

I'm so glad I'm leaving for good at the end if this month.

And that is exactly whats wrong with the Justice system here and why people fear any outcome. It seems to depend on who you are and how much you have to the casual observer.

I wish the PM well with his fight against corruption.

Let's look at it from the Western perspective?  he gets fined that sets up kids financially AND goes to jail - how's that?

Fined 45 mil?

Or a 100k?

Going to jail still does'nt bring the kid's mum & dad back.

What would be better the guy in jail and the family gets nothing. Hell in the states people plead not guilty to these crimes with the intent of dragging it out as long as possible, hoping the arresting officer doesn't show up to give evidence of the arrest. One would need to be futher up the food chain for 45million bhat not to hurt. Just remember boys it is their justice system and they really do not care what you think, sputter and blow all day long the out come is the same and nothing you say will have an affect

Banned from drinking alcohol? Interesting one. Does this mean if he gets caught having a sneaky black label at the local restaurant he could end up in jail for two years?

Not likely at all.

The horrible Thai "justice" system has proven once again that is there to be bought and used by the rich. He wasn't really punished for his crime of taking someone's life, was he? So, I'd say the odds of of anything happening to him for any breach of the condition of his laughably tiny slap on the wrist sentence are extremely unlikely.

Unfortunately, this kind of stuff makes Thailand and its culture look and smell like the stuff we usually put in toilet bowls. Disgusting, once again.

I wonder what the kids would prefer. 45,000,000 baht, or getting nothing and seeing some guy spend his remaining years locked away in a prison. As tragic as it is, the parents are dead. Neither outcome brings them back. At least with the money, they will have their futures sorted out if it’s properly managed.

Add the civil lawsuits and the kids would have plenty unless their gardians squander it away before they turn 18

As likely to win that one as the DEA and US gov't with their "War on Drugs".  Not a chance!

As much as most of us feel that he literally got away with murder the Thai media are painting a different story !!

On two different tv channels they have shown the two young daughters of the deceased smiling and hugging the driver.

Like it or not this is how the judicial system works here, money talks !!

The story now is how the wealthy Thai businessman has set up two young girls for life with an incredible donation !!

The initial story of a drunk driver killing two innocent victims is long forgotten !!

Well done! This will certainly enhance the much protected "Image of Thailand" ????

And will all our outrage and comments change anything here in these sad situations of rich drunken drivers killing people and getting off with it ??? Thailand has no shame at all at letting this happen over and over again... AMAZING TIT

When is the parade in his honour?

A true hero to the people, Thai style.

Thailand -- always amazing but for so many wrong reasons.

Unbelievable, yet s guy hits a dog and is denied bail and now in jail for +-6 months awaiting trial. What kind of society is it?

Sickening. It just shows the double legal system here. The rich can kill people. It's ok. Just pay lots of money and you won't go to jail. Disgust in an absolute understatement.

When you shoot someone and go to jail it doesnt bring them back either. Going by that logic why jail anyone?

he stayed at the scene and fully admitted his guilt,

round like a shovel tail, drunk as a lord, unable to put one foot in front of the other ..
of course he stayed there ..

Why be surprised at this multi-speed "justice", a few years in jail for mushroom pickers and almost nothing for a dead drunk HiSo who kills a senior police officer.
I do not understand why the hierarchy of the police does not appeal this infantile decision.:1zgarz5:
