Tourists ignoring red flags rescued in Patong as weather warning re-issued

PHUKET: The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) this morning re-issued its weather warning for Phuket and the Andaman coast, warning of rainstorm and dangerous waves.

 

The warning comes as lifeguards at Patong Beach rescued three Chinese tourists from a dangerous rip current on Tuesday (July 30) after they ignored the red “No Swimming” flags marking where it is dangerous to enter the surf.

 

Two of the tourists were rescued safely and could walk after being brought back to shore, but one man was choking and exhausted, and needed help to be carried from the beach.

A rip is no laughing matter. Ignore the flags at your peril!

The problem is that people try to fight against the rip when all they need to do is swim across and with the flow until their out and then just make their way back to shore 

Rescue the Chinese from the sea at all costs and definitely keep them off the horizontal departure list????

Same same every year, don't feel sympathy to those who ignore warnings. There's many a reason for the cheap flights/cheap room this time of the year, and one is the weather.

He,s conscious and spewing up,seems right to me!

What gets me is the Chinese who enter the sea and think they can just stand up and play in the waves and not being able to swim at all. Once they get knocked over and dragged out it's too late. 

Seen it all too often.

Easier said than done if your a shit poor inexperienced swimmer.

The problem is that most of them can't swim.

Maybe they thought that the presence of a red flag meant that the Chinese were particularly welcome to go for a swim ????
