Suthirat Rattanachote, the Comptroller-General Department’s director-general, says the guidelines for cancer treatments are being constantly updated to enable greater access for patients to drugs.

Two additional cancer-treating medicines have been added to the list under the Oncology Prior Authorisation (OCPA) programme, sparing patients the need to pay for the drugs before they begin using them, Comptroller-General Department director-general Suthirat Rattanachote said.

The two approved medicines are Atezolizumab, which treats lung cancer in the distant metastasis state, and Ribociclib, for breast cancer in the distant metastasis state. Patients can start using the drugs under the OCPA programme immediately.

The OCPA programme is applicable to three government schemes: universal coverage under the National Health Security Office; healthcare coverage under the Social Security Office; and medical services coverage for civil servants under the Office of the Civil Service Commission.

Thai citizens or their relatives who are suffering from cancer can register at state hospitals for the OCPA programme. Its list of medicines for direct reimbursement comprises 19 drugs (including the newly added two items), which are provided for 32 indicated conditions, she said.

Suthirat also said the Comptroller-General Department was constantly updating the guidelines for cancer treatments so as to allow greater access to treatments and medical technologies for needy patients.

Drug companies dont cure people they create customers

Why don't they let loose cannabis on cancer patients. It's a win win for the patient. No profit for big pharma. End of story.

Quite, spend your money on screening for early detection and palliative and pain care. Throwing money away on these massively expensive drugs to extend life by one or two months is not something Thailand can afford to do.

use now, pay never if you are dead ...

the whole cancer with overpriced chemo and radiation that KILLS your immune system

while you need your immune system to kill CANCER CELLS...

chemo & radiation do not kill CANCER STEM CELLS... aka, they come back in a few years in another part of the body that has been cut....

when you use surgery, your body releases a big amount of glutamine to recover the cut .... guess what cancer cells love and grow with .... SUGAR & GLUTAMINE

the sugar part, most people might already known it ...

when you use  a PET SCAN to check for cancer, guess what they inject into your body ?  RADIOACTIVE glucose ... that lights up the scan to show where the CANCER is growing ...

many hospitals are full of sugar beverage companies to fill the hospitals pockets

many Md's will say to the patient that is losing weight because of the nausea of the chemo to eat whatever they want, included big gulps of SUGAR...

do your homework ...
